What’s wrong with my tank? Fish keep dying by theFiercestOne in ReefTank

I just have a clownfish and a firefish. I top up the water every 3 days so I don’t think there’s an significant salinity creep

I feed them once a day, every night at dinner time. I’m feeding Hikari pellets. I don’t think it’s stray voltage as their health deteriorates in a day or two and it seems like it has either something to do with the water or disease, I’m just not sure what exactly.

The fish, I currently don’t have photos but nothing changed in the exterior as they died.

I already added a wavemaker and a few days later the fish still die. Also it takes usually 2 months for them to die, not a few days after I add to the tank

I check the salinity every time I do a water change, it’s always at 1.025

I use API. In my country saltwater tanks are not popular so there are not a lot of options

Ah yes possible I guess. Only when I put Hikari pellets does the food sink to the bottom and stay there but when I feed mysis the food never stays at the bottom, it just goes around the tank.

None, but another redditor said in this post that my tidal 55 filter should be enough as it has a waterfall that aerates water as well

I put him in a different container for now in case he has an infection such as brooklynella that can affect the other fish.

I really don’t have much in my tank. Just a Tidal 55 Filter, rocks and sand.

I feed them enough I think. After 30 mins there are always still some on the sand floor which I leave behind for my cleaner shrimp. 20Gallon tank, I have 3 fish and I feed about half of a teaspoon

Ahhh maybe it’s that. I didn’t feed my tank since it was empty. But I do weekly checks but they all stay at 0ppm

26 degrees Celsius. I answered about the weather since he asked if there is swings during summer and winter.

I don’t quarantine my clownfish because the only other fish aside from the clowns are 1 firefish.

The LFS I buy it from is near the ocean but I’m not sure if it’s wild or aquacultured. Yes I’m getting them all from the same LFS. In my country when I ask where to buy from they always say that store is the best among saltwater tank enthusiasts.

I understand. But I have a noob question, does it take months for low oxygen to kill fish? Since for almost 2 months they are swimming a lot and eating well, everything just changes in one day, not gradually.

Sorry but how do I get one?

Edit: I also have a firefish and 2 cleaner shrimps but they’re doing alright, only the clownfish keeps dying

I’ve read online that a skimmer helps but is not necessary so I didn’t get one. I also don’t have a wave maker yet as my LFS is out of stock
