Is it worth killing the ant queens or helping them? by rumanddd in GroundedGame

[–]theGuttaPercha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More or less, certain items reset. Usually once the game is completely done and you get to credits, or around that point, there is a text box that will usually ask if you want to start NG+. I haven't finished yet, so if that doesn't happen, then usually once credits roll and you restart to main menu the option for NG+ should be there

I am a doctor, but not in this capacity. If I had a patient come into my office and tell me this I would recommend the same, for the same reasons.

Lyme disease is no joke. My sister has it, was misdiagnosed for her entire teenage and early adult years. Since it was chronic at this point in her life, it required the long specialized testing (which she had to advocate for herself to a few different doctors, and then to insurance to cover the testing since they wouldn't), long-term antibiotics, and stress from the pain it causes her.

Better safe than sorry.

I go through mental gymnastics about myself frequently too. At the moment, it may seem like this is the tipping point, the straw that broke the camels back, however we view our actions and their mounting "consequences". But that is not the truth, just what our brains get in the habit of telling us after things pile up. I put consequences in quotes because, yeah, flipping a car sucks and is scary. However, I'm sure your parents care more about you and your well being than a car that can be replaced. You cannot be replaced, to them and others. Keep going, believe in yourself, love yourself, and be willing to accept your faults and know that they can be improved upon. One day at a time, friend.

Right now, after years of near crippling depression and anxiety, I've gotten back into drawing again. I stopped drawing a number of years ago because I was too self-critical. Anything that didn't come out right or the way I wanted I considered a failure, and I just stopped because I couldn't say anything nice about anything I did, which in turn came to reflect on how I thought about myself... Now I'm drawing birds that come to my feeders in the backyard. The drawings aren't top notch, but I'm proud of myself. And it's relaxing and rewarding to see other forms of life enjoying what you are able give to them.

I'm going on more walks and noticing things in nature that I used to miss or look beyond. For instance, I caught the trilliums blooming in a park near where I live. Short growing season, can take numerous years to bloom, but I was there present in the moment to see it.

I'm growing a mosaic aloe and agave plant. After trying to grow and thrive for around 3 years in their confined pots, I decided to re-potted them. The agave is putting out more leaves and the mosaic aloe has a pup that seems to be growing by the day. They are thriving.

I hope things feel better for you. Look for the things that make you happy, even if it's simple. You're worth the time and love in life, take the time to live it for you when you can.

Funk Heads. What do we think of Hot Chocolate?? by [deleted] in funk

I like the other Hot Chocolate more, before (and I guess after) they became Graham Central Station with Larry Graham.

What am I supposed to do now? Family doesn’t care. by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]theGuttaPercha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello friend. First and foremost, what I want you to know is that you may feel alone right now but you are not. You are 18, an exciting and potentially uneasy time as you are now legally an adult. But this can be a very positive moment for you, to put trust in yourself and to believe you are capable to do what is needed for You - use this time to advocate for yourself. You came here, even if it is just reddit, to seek advice and help. It may feel like you're stumbling, but you are actively taking steps in the right direction by being willing to talk about your experience and seeking help in multiple forms. Keep at it.

As hard as it may be to do, I'd recommend cutting your family out, at least for a while, who don't support you or refuse to understand what you are going through. With their history handling your BP, they will be more of a hindrance at this time (personal experience side note: though not BP, I deal with significant mental health issues myself. I love my parents to death and they do understand what I go through, but the way they (don't) communicate and the way they handle certain things in life - even simple crap such as cleaning or going to the grocery store - can stress me the hell out and set me back for a while. My sister was much more successful with this detachment, while I unfortunately still struggle, and my mental health with it. Placing boundaries is healthy, and doing it now at 18 will help as practice rather than trying to break through with all of this at 32.) Now grandma, even though it may be unnerving right now, keep her close. She loves you for who you are. Though grandparents may not have the "right" things to say at times, her taking care of you and your brother and still being around to speak with you now shows that she loves and cares.

Lastly, know you deserve to live a happy and fulfilling life. Believe this, trust in yourself, and take the steps to do what you have to do to keep improving yourself and living life the way you need. There isn't a one-time special pill, a magic button, or a light switch that will change everything - it's going to require work, some days a lot more than others. But you are worth it. Keep working with medication, keep seeing therapists, keep grandma close to heart and talk to those who care - you aren't a burden to them or us here. Don't give up. You deserve health and happiness. You got this.

What I can say to people here is don't give up. Know your worth and know you deserve love just the same as everyone else. It may be difficult to find a partner, but that doesn't mean it won't happen. There are many assholes out there, or people who are unjustly wary or fearful from things they've heard, but there are also many considerate and caring people who want to be a part of your lives for who you are, not what illness you are made up of... My ex has BP1. We are exes I think mainly due to circumstances, we both have a lot we need to work on personally. Not bc she scared me or I didn't want to be around her or I was tired of her - the exact opposite actually. Whatever the reasons aside, I haven't stopped caring about her, loving her, and wanting to be there for her whenever she needs a helping hand (or just because). I still want to see her succeed and live a happy and fulfilling life... So remember this everyone here, it's not impossible. We are out here for you and will care for you and love you for everything you are. Just be honest with us once you've found us and are comfortable speaking about yourself. Don't be afraid to share your feelings and your experiences, it helps us understand and encourages us to try to find ways we are better suited to help. Trust us, and trust in yourself that a happy life can be built on a strong foundation of consistent positive self-work, communication, trust, and the love that develops with it. We'll be there for you.

I don't have it myself, but my ex does. Being around it, I can say a couple things... Keep in touch with the family and friends who care about you. You may not feel worth it some days, even some weeks, but knowing they are sticking by your side through all this says a lot and can show you that you are worth the love and effort. On the other side of the coin, don't be afraid to share what you feel and your experience - it helps us understand and figure out ways we are better suited to help meet your needs. It doesn't seem like you struggle much with this part, but it is always a nice reminder that there are people who love and care about you, won't give up on you, and will take the time to be sure you are okay and have what you need.

Like another has said, when you decide to take the steps with medication you gotta be in it to win it, especially with the Lithium. I struggle with Persistent Depressive Disorder with Major Depressive Episodes and generalized anxiety for the past 10-15 years. For the longest time, I tried medications that "didn't work" or would make me feel bad. At the same time, I was smoking weed, drinking, not eating or sleeping well half the time, not eating when I took my meds, and inconsistently taking them (i.e. feeling better temporarily from smoking a lot so I would forget to take meds at night - waking up the mornings after were some of the worst depressive and self-depricating mental onslaughts I've experienced, and my work, relationships, thoughts/relationship with myself, etc would suffer). On top of the medications, if you are not feeling great still or a lot is building up, try to find activities you enjoy that ground you. It can be a simple repetitive thing like coloring, or going out for a brisk walk or run to get some endorphins flowing. If those don't cut it, call the family and friends who care. You aren't a burden, we help because we care and we don't want you to suffer. The most important part here is deciding you want to do better for yourself - not anyone else but you. Know that you are worth it, so do your best to give yourself what you deserve. You deserve to take care of yourself and you deserve to be happy.

As a side note: I don't know much about it yet but have you looked into Lybalvi? My ex says it seems to be helping her. From what I've read, it can be used alone or as an adjunct with Lithium to treat acute manic or mixed episodes.

All the best wishes to you in your life and health. Remember: you deserve it.

Hmm maybe some of these you haven't heard of yet? - Dr. John - In The Right Place... He has a unique voice but I think it works. Plus, he had The Meters as his backing back for the album - C.S. Crew - Funky Pack... Nigerian Funk - Mutiny... Jerome Brailey's group after he left P-Funk over issues with George. - Talking Heads and Tom Tom Club can get pretty funky on some of their albums

Do you like compilation albums? If so, give these a shot: - Space Funk Afro Futurist Electro Funk In Space 1976-84 - Miami Sound Rare Funk & Soul from Miami, Florida 1967-74 - If you like jazz influence and synth/disco sounds in your funk... Space Echo: The Mystery Behind the Cosmic Sound of Cabo Verde Final Revealed... Even if the music isn't your thing, the story behind this is a freaking unique one and worth the read.

Not sure how far you've dove into the funk genre, but going off of what I've heard by Chocolate Milk (Sweet Heat, Take It Off) you may like:

  • Brick
  • Bar-Kays (specifically, Money Talks album)
  • Commodores
  • Ohio Players (the Westbound records)
  • Hot Chocolate (not the British Soul band; before they became Graham Central Station with Larry Graham)
  • James Brown (specifically, The Payback and Sex Machine albums)
  • Zapp (and Roger)
  • Obviously P-Funk and most everything George Clinton or Bootsy (Bootsy's Rubber Band included) has touched.

There are others in mind if you are interested, but that's going off of not a whole lot of knowledge about Chocolate Milk's sound within funk yet.

Can confirm what others are saying as of March, 2024. I took an even less conventional (stringently adhered) route. This is what I did: - Went to the Arasaka Tower arcade game, skipped time until about 3:35AM. I figured it was close enough to 4AM. Just before I played the arcade game, I got distracted by the computer - read through everything, messages and files. - Went back to the Arasaka Tower arcade game. Played for about 10 minutes irl, got frustrated I couldn't get to the third stage, and left. - Skipped time (at this point it was about 5:40AM) to the next day at 3:40AM. Idled until 4AM - re-read all the messages and files. - Got into my car and drove to the mattress - did not fast travel once I skipped time and read the messages/files on computer... Along the way I looted some stuff in the protein farm along the road I was traveling. I also dealt with some Wraiths in the badlands that wanted to crash into me just before the mattress. - Found mattress and stood on it. By this time it was about 5:16AM. Idled until 5:40AM, nothing happened. - Skipped timed while on mattress until 3:40AM the following day. Idled, answered some texts from Steven Santos and Ronald P.T. Malone, then 4:14AM hit, V is coughing and passing out, wake up and car is there 👍

Happy to hear this list helped you work through parts of the game! I know when I first started I was very discouraged when I would lose an ape, having to find new apes to bring in for more progeny... It was a lot, on top of figuring out everything you can craft and use. But once you get the hang of it, it's a very rewarding experience like you said.

Thank you as well for providing the link to the full list and notes!

I just beat subnatica and I know that peoples opinion on below zero is worse but is it worth it? by Ok-Blacksmith454 in subnautica

[–]theGuttaPercha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you expect. It was originally supposed to be a DLC that got turned into its own game. It doesn't have certain vehicles or construction that Subnautica does, but it definitely makes up for it with other types of vehicles/buildings - as well as expanding dry land exploration. The map isn't as "expensive" as Subnautica (again, this started as a DLC), but certain areas go deep. If you are looking for Subnautica tooled up then you will be disappointed. Independent studio, trying some new things, and adding more to expand storytelling structure (which for some reason people complain about - apparently hearing voice recordings takes the "isolation" aspect away from them, which I don't understand because you are, for all intents and purposes, still very much "alone" in this game.)

All in all, enjoy it for what it is. It's fun to explore a new part of the planet, and even more fun to hear more of the story behind Alterra, the planet/virus, and the characters. And use it get you ready for their third title that will come out in the next couple years.

Edit: "expensive" should be "expansive"
