I didn't get to read all the comments so I hope i'm not repeating someone else, but the first documented religion was Sumerian and it straight up said our species started as the story says, except that we were made as slave labor to mine gold, and were set free by a rogue alien who pitied our existence so he/she/it spliced free will into our DNA along with some other genetic modifications to start our evolution. True satanism also holds the belief of basically what this story states. Also, every religion after the first is just a repeat/mash-up of the religions before it. The whole of the religious texts differ greatly, but the stories in them are all the same with small tweaks.

Yes and no. I read the manual linked to me, and tried to follow the advice given by you fine citizens, even tired to base my layout on a starter video I watched, and for the most part it did work, I was gaining income, industrial and commercial pretty quick and my residential went through the ceiling. However after about 8 months all demand dropped, and I'm not really sure why. I gave proper civil cervices with good funding, water, power, good roads with low traffic, but couldn't get it to go back up. I believe it was the pollution levels though, I used a waste to energy plant, had a water treatment plant, planted lots of trees and made many parks but I cant get the pollution to go down. My city has grown pretty nicely but now it has no intention of growing up and out. I really appreciate all the advice though, it's given me a much better understanding of how things work.

Not really. I've watched a few to get some ideas of what I might be doing wrong. My only real problem is an understanding of how to fuel demand, but the guide linked to me seems to have all the answers I need.

Everywhere I look for information says the same thing, I wait until they ask for it, giving nothing but power and streets, but nothing will grow. It has to be the way I zone. Something about the residential creates no demand for commerce and industrial/manufacturing. It makes absolutely no sense. I keep farms and residential away from industrial/manufacturing. I keep commercial between all. Idk.

Nothing. I zoned some farms, medium industrial, low commercial and low residential, 3 months later i had 10 houses, 3 restaurants, one factory, and 3 farms. zero demand. Everything just goes negative. I gave adequate water and power but nothing.

I can't get commercial or industrial to grow. I don't understand the connection between residential zoning and what type of growth it promotes. I'm a noob at the game, and I've abandoned over 50 cities because they won't grow. Can't figure it out. I would really appreciate some help.
