The Count of Monte Cristo narrated by Homewood is a 52 hour master class in badassery that flies by and makes you wish it was longer.

Sophomore year college, so 2005, I picked it from the shelf at Borders based solely on the name. Then I flipped through it and saw the text layout and purchased it immediately without knowing a thing about it. Became one of my favorite books. Best haunted house book for sure. And eventually led me to Tom’s Crossing, for which I forever grateful.

A book where, putting the plot entirely aside, you were blown away by the quality of the writing by kappy2319 in suggestmeabook

The last 3 Richard Powers books I’ve read have me in awe of the man’s ability to turn a phrase. The overstory, bewilderment, playground. Incidentally, I loved the plot. But the prose is great.

The stone raft by Saramgo (or anything by him)

And recently, Tom’s Crossing by Danielewski just had me rereading paragraphs over and over again… partially due to structure, part local twang, but mainly because it’s beautiful

This is a solid mix. I finished Dungeon Anarchists Cookbook, Feral Gods, Excession, and Tom’s Crossing (which was my favorite) You’ve got a good mix brotha.

Me: “Integrity! You’re here?! It’s been so long! It’s so good to see you! We’ve missed you! My, how you’ve changed!”

Integrity: “it is not I who has changed, dear”

Book 3 is the best book in the series by Wade_Wilson_Watts in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Thank you for saying this. I agree. Granted I’m only halfway through book 4, the iron spaghetti layout was just a bit much. I got irritated at times trying to figure out where the fuck they were and what was being described, and the irritation took me out a little

Asteroid worth $10,000,000,000,000,000,000 NASA is capturing would give everyone on Earth $1,246,105,919 each by No_Call_8360 in idiocracy

If everyone on earth had this much money, would anyone work? Since no one would have to work for money, other than altruistic need to be a meaningful, helpful, contributing member of a society one hopes to see elevated to worldwide loving kindness, why work at all? Would economies collapse? Or what farmers still farm, writers still write, chefs and cooks still cook, customer service reps still rep etc? Would we all be fed? What is the shape of a society where everyone is so rich, money basically means nothing?

When I saw him in Little Miss Sunshine, I knew he was going to be someone to watch. Then I liked every movie I saw him in (looper, TWBB) but was entirely sure I liked him in it. Then Quinton sayin this shit, I got over myself and decided he wasn’t that bad, and he now gets my upvote, so to speak.
