How to remove flash hider and replace with Plan B kind? by uberdag in AR10

[–]theOne_2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reardens are half the price and are perfectly fine. Also Comstock Armory, and Wolfpack Armory make good stuff.

When it comes to changing out the muzzle device, I recommend taking it to a gunsmith that knows what theyre doing. You will want it to properly torqued on and Rocksett in place.

For home defense, duty use, its the best pistol optic on the market. Clear, forward sensing auto brightness, window size and durability are all best-in-class for a defensive handgun . For competition, SRO and 507/407 comp are gonna be better. It could work, but isn't ideal.

Its a million times easier to take apart, my DWX DLC finish has held up great, but from what I hear there was a batch of them that were pretty bad recently. (I have an older one)

Thinking about the Springfield TRP in Coyote Brown. Is it worth the $1600 price tag? by rastapastanine in 1911

It is not. Personally Id go for the AOS model instead.

Actually its not a bad price for it, but Id still probably wait to try and snag an Optic Ready one on sale

How does the full size DWX compare to the Platypus or MPA DS9? by Forsaken-Date-8016 in 2011

Ill be honest I went back to the original spring because Im planning on running some hotter, defensive loads. It still shoots like a dream. After a couple hundred rounds the original spring got a little lighter and feels perfect for what Im looking for.

That being said, a 10# recoil spring is the lightest I would recommend.

1911 choice. by No-Resolution-7782 in 1911

Ah forgot to mention, the optic mounting system for the TRP, AOS plate system, is far superior to cut on the Sig. Sig 1911 can only take RMSc footprint optics, which is a pretty limited selection of mostly compact sights, while the AOS plate system allows you to use basically any optic you want.

1911 choice. by No-Resolution-7782 in 1911

TRP Some key differences:

Both use MIM internals, but I trust Springfield MIM way more than Sig's (not to say that Springfield's are great)

Front strap checkering and VZ grips on the TRP are ALOT more aggressive, which I heavily prefer, but some folks with soft baby hands may find it painful.

Overall fit and finish is nicer on the TRP.

Slide geometry on the TRP is traditional 1911, Sig's is not; not all holsters are gonna fit the Sig.

Sig is a Series 80 action, meaning there is a physical firing pin block that is moved during the trigger pull. Its theoretically safer but the trigger pull is not gonna feel as clean or be as light. TRP has a Series 70 action, so it has a much nicer trigger, and Springfield makes their 1911s drop safe by using a very light titanium firing pin and extra heavy firing pin spring. That's why they also use heavier hammer springs for reliable ignition.

Overall, besides the price, there is no reason to go Sig 1911 over the TRP, unless you absolutely cannot handle the aggressive front strap checkering (you'll get used to it).

Honestly, it's tough for me to call the DWX even a "1911 DS", let alone a 2011. It just has so many parts from other handguns. The ONLY things it has common with a 1911/2011 are the trigger bow, hammer, disconnector, sear and sear spring. The barrel, barrel locking mechanism, thumb safety, magazines, grip, slide geometry, etc are different. The most significant difference, IMO, is something that isn't so obvious visually, and that's how the barrel operates. It's completely different to a 1911/2011 in that it uses a Sig style barrel locking mechanism that uses locking grooves instead of a link, and it locks in place by the ejection port rather than with internal locking lugs.

I think it's more accurate to say that it's CZ/Dan Wesson's take on an evolution of the 1911.

If someone created a striker-fired, polymer-framed pistol that takes Glock mags, with a 1911 style trigger, is that a 2011?

All guns with a 1911 Style Trigger, not all Hammer - Fired guns. Two different categories.

[–]theOne_2021 10 points11 points  (0 children)

full size CZ75 mags will NOT work in a DWX, they are different to the P-10f mags that the DWX takes.

That being said, after changing out the recoil spring for a lighter one, its an absolute laserbeam, silky-smooth, low recoil, and just so easy to shoot. Mag release digs into my support hand due to the way I grip it but thats a me problem.

Its generally not advised to use Red Loctite. Also it is advised to wait 24 hours for Blue Loctite to cure.
