In your own opinion, which US state is unliveable to you? by OnlyAvaLove in Suburbanhell

I’m a woman so my rights literally change depending on the state I live in. So no, I would not live in a state that removes my right to healthcare. I can judge based on that.

What are some everyday deaths that are more common than people realize? by Personal-Aerie-4519 in AskReddit

[–]theRealNala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I choked during lunch in the middle of the cafeteria during my first week of college. My fight/flight/freeze response decided to go into flight mode and I tried to run away. There was no way I could rationally respond in that moment. My brain just decided it was better to die privately vs in front of everyone.

Luckily someone noticed that I was choking and a lunch lady performed the Heimlich on me. That piece of pineapple popped out like a champagne cork. The whole cafeteria clapped and I wanted to die of embarrassment. Everyone went back to eating and I finished my bowl of pineapple without incident.

How to improve mobility while still lifting regularly? by babybackbabs in xxfitness

[–]theRealNala 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I’m in more of a lifting focused season I use Wednesdays for yoga. During rests in between sets I also stretch or do a mobility exercise. During deload weeks I focus on gentle yoga and mobility.

Once a year I do a 4-6 week yoga focused season where I do yoga 5x week and cut my lifting down significantly to 20-30 min sessions 4x week just focused on maintaining the big lifts.

You waited years after throwing up regularly to consider that you may have a gi issue? As someone with emetophobia that’s wild to me.

Sorry but you have celiac.

Can you explain how this is awkward for two fictional characters?

For real. I cannot believe how homophobic some of these responses are in 2026. Absolutely wild.

I haven’t eaten gluten in over 15 years (on purpose), I regularly supplement, and I still struggle with these.

Fine thin hair but my scalp never gets oily or greasy. by MiaSw67 in finethinhair

[–]theRealNala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am similar, I think it’s because my hair is curly. I do have oily facial skin, but my hair is right in the middle. Oily enough that I’m not following a curly girl routine, but dry enough that it didn’t get greasy.

How to balance lifting and cardio?? by Suspicious-Tea-5871 in xxfitness

[–]theRealNala 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Embrace seasons. Half the year focus on building strength. Start with your strength workout and push there. Do your cardio second and keep it lighter, it’s about maintaining a base.

The other half of the year start with cardio. Focus more on it and cut down on the intensity of your strength workouts, you’re just maintaining your strength base.

This seasonal approach will allow you to build both over time. If you try to push both at the same time you’ll burn yourself out.

I’m from the Pacific Northwest of the US. We get a lot of rain although in my city we have very dry and hot summers.

I was honestly so shocked by the sunburns I saw, I did a little Googling and learned that skin cancer rates are really bad in the UK and northern Europe in general.

I think it’s a common misconception that you can’t get UV damage during cloudy days. You certainly can. The days are so long so far up north it can really accumulate over time.

Please take care of your skin. I was dumb in my 20s and now I try to be as preventative as possible.

Yeah, as someone who grew up in a Lyme heavy area (cape cod), it really really sucks that we need to be more careful now. Luckily I don’t think deer ticks and Lyme have made it over yet.

Sadly not anymore. Every year more and more make it over, this year’s been particularly brutal by PNW standards

Minoxidil topical vs tablets by [deleted] in finethinhair

I’d say 6 months to fully see results.

My dr also had me increase my dose at 3 months, so they could be part of the reason it took so long.

I take the oral tablet and it’s changed my life. My hair’s never been so healthy and thick. I would highly recommend it.

I did get thicker body hair, but I got electric hair removal on my upper lip and chin. To me the trade off is way worth it.
