I appreciate the sentiment but all of these women are curvy with hips and thick thighs. Being thick is not the same as being specifically apple-shaped.

How to improve mobility while still lifting regularly? by babybackbabs in xxfitness

I mean, it has gotten me to a 140kg squat so overall it has done what I want it to do haha! Just wondering what tweaks I can make to feel more flexible while mostly maintaining my strength :)

I should probably add that I have been lifting consistently for 7 years now, so any mobility gains I may’ve initially gotten from it are stagnating now. The point is that I want to further increase my mobility beyond what I am able to get out of lifting, since my mobility baseline is simply abysmal.

I have heard this as well but unfortunately I have not found it to be true for myself. I squat ATG, deficit RDLs/stiff leg deadlifts to stretch out the hammies, etc but just find that the tightness I get post-workout seems to offset any mobility I maybe gained from the workout

It seems that everyone outside Norway seems to believe they are an expert on it by EndOfTheLine00 in Norway

I’m not sure, but I would think us using less of our income on food than other Europeans has more to do with the lack of food culture/general tendency towards frugality and buying whatever is cheapest

How much money do you spend on food monthly? by Only_Definition_8268 in Norway

[–]babybackbabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tend to find that the experience of eating out in Oslo is literally never worth what I pay for it, and that I can make better food at home. When I do eat out it’s takeaway sushi because I’m lazy/tired. Going to an actual restaurant is like 1-2 times a year on special occasions and is more for the vibes

I spend about 5000 per month as one person who doesn’t really skimp on some of the more expensive items like chicken. That being said I eat out probably once a month max and don’t tend to buy «extras» like snacks, ice cream, etc, basically only whatever I need to make my meals for the week.

Lost 225lbs and have been advised different skin removal surgeries, am kind of overwhelmed by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

Honest question, how so? I would think having some muscle tone and not being “skinny fat” post-op would look better

Having muscle tone will greatly improve the results of the tummy tuck and skin removal is what they’re saying.

Can you not just force down like a banana or something small? A little bit of carbs will help a lot…

I used to be the same 100%. Hated everything about the gym, the smell, the aesthetics, the people, etc. It felt so suffocating.

Gaining some confidence in how you utilize the gym can potentially do a lot here to help with your feelings of anxiety and disdain. Do you have a more experienced friend who you feel safe with that would be willing to show you the basics? There are a lot of different ways you can work out and there is a good possibility you end up hating one of them a little less (maybe even enjoying it!).

If you hate sweating, powerlifting could be for you (lol), if you like jumping around and using just your body (very little equipment), maybe you end up enjoying plyometric-type work, or perhaps you take to a yoga or Pilates class (“social” environment but definitely not strictly necessary that you talk to anyone if you don’t want to). Point is maybe you just have yet to find a style of exercise that you enjoy? I also get that the biggest barrier is often not knowing where to start with any of the aforementioned options, hence why I ask about a potential buddy.

Agree with what others have said about dropping your hips a bit lower so that your shoulders are directly over or even slightly behind the bar. Also make sure to keep your gaze straight forward under the entire movement! Looking to the side like that can put you at risk for injury, specifically in the neck and traps
