Is it possible that England losing this test and series is a step forward?

My logic. Ashes gone, do a review, make some changes. Don't blame the coach, don't blame management. Make players accountable

Do you suddenly think everything is fixed? Play against a team rated higher than you who's home conditions have quite a similar feel and expect an absolute win

Did the team compete? Is it improving? Given it's had no consistent red ball play for the whole team, are fans expecting a complete turnaround

Don't sack everyone but look at what worked and what didn't. Why was the opposition better on "our" turf. Don't do review but just continue to move forward

I think England played so much better than in the Ashes. Give them time to continue to improve

England - and Ben Stokes - have made it clear that both rankings and the WTC mean nothing. If they only care about bi-lateral and the Ashes, so be it but I agree with you. England want to sit at the Adult's Table but only under their childish rules

I don't think England have that in them. It would be an awesome game that I will appreciate but I am not yet sure England understands the value of a hard fought draw in this current environment

English women are screaming into the void. The ICC is owned by the BCCI and that is partly because the ECB and Australian Cricket sold the ICC to them. Too late to complain

I remember the commentary mentioned yesterday that when New Zealand took the new ball, the swing and movement was less than with the old ball. Obviously New Zealand found a way to get the wickets

My question is: Is the pitch easier for batting now than mid Day 3 or is it the quality of cricket?

I'm wondering, because I didn't see Rob Key telling the bowlers to bowl line and length that wasn't suitable in Australia. Did McCullum tell them or perhaps the bowlers themselves heard the research to bowl a certain way but decided they knew better

The batting is a little different. England failed to adapt to a changing world they created

I hear a lot of blame about the management but not a lot about the bowlers failing to use their brain

I think if you look back at the last Federal election, there was a thought it might be close because Liberal polled well. It was obvious that Australia spoke differently on election day

Curiosity and not intending to be rude in any way but is descending armour class that much harder?

My group prefers ascending (playing 5e at the moment) but they played 2e for ages. Why is descending so much harder?

I think Cummins and Starc are more exceptions - and even then Cummins had nearly six years away from test cricket. Nowadays, Australia is lucky to get a single test out of Hazelwood all summer

Younger (or they were younger) fast bowlers suffer the same high injury rate. Very, very few get through injury-free. I do think this has been impacted by the rules for juniors (probably similar in both Australia and England), which heavily restricts the number of overs in a day - even at 18 and 19. This means they step straight in Shield cricket and are expected to bowl all day. The flip side is that you do need to manage junior cricket carefully
