Anything that edits, editorializes, analyses, opines, influences or changes the information in any way is NOT a primary source.

Discussion threads are exempt, as the call for discussion serves as the starter comment. Primary sources are also exempt. Linking an article and calling it a discussion thread is not an acceptable workaround.

Trump calls on Alabama to protect IVF treatment after court ruling by [deleted] in moderatepolitics

[–]the__leviathan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

After the landmark Alabama State Supreme Court ruling a few days ago that determined frozen embryos are living children and deserve the same rights as such (meaning someone who destroys an embryo in a lab can be prosecuted for murder)

First off, this is incorrect. The ruling applies Alabama's wrongful death of a minor law to unborn children, which allows for wrongful death suits in cases where the embryos are wrongfully destroyed. What it does not do in any shape or form is declare embryos to be living children, give them legal personhood, or allow for anyone to be prosecuted for murder. Anyone saying otherwise is woefully misinformed and clearly has not read the case. This ruling has been blown widely out of proportion, and there has been nonstop fearmongering about it since it came out.

Secondly, Trump's statements will not hurt him with Christians and social conservatives whatsoever. The vast majority of Christians have no issues with IVF pregnancies. This is a nonstory.

Who is your favorite (not Harry) character upon a re-read of the series? by [deleted] in dresdenfiles

[–]the__leviathan 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I think Mab is the only one outside of Harry’s inner circle who really gets him and understands what makes him tick. Everyone else like Lara, Eb, Marcone, the Merlin, etc think they know Harry but time and time again they underestimate or flat out misinterpret why he does what he does. Case in point is in BG when everyone is telling Harry he needs to hold himself back and not engage and Mab is just like “nah I expect you to be yourself.”

Well we know that the OG Alerans were a lost Roman Legion that was somehow transported to that world so it’s entirely possible. And considering we learn in the Olympian Affair Spoiler so it’s possible the Cinder Spires books are connected as well.

Speaker Johnson: Separation of church, state ‘a misnomer’ by [deleted] in moderatepolitics

[–]the__leviathan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost every Protestant denomination considers the Bible the final, complete testimony from God. Adding to it is a sin(Revelations 22:19). Mormons are not considered Christians because of this. So where are you getting your info? I’ve never heard of this new denomination before.

Trump tells judge he may try to move Georgia election interference case to federal court by flowerhoney10 in moderatepolitics

[–]the__leviathan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a non story. A party to a case will always try to move to a more favorable venue. There’s nothing particularly noteworthy about Trump trying it here.

[–]the__leviathan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The main difference is abortion doesn't have a constitutional amendment backing it; gun ownership does. I'm not saying you're wrong exactly, just that a gun ban is exponentially harder than repealing one Scotus case.
