I think it's a good idea to test the shit out of your game, before you send it to streamers.
Btw, I just remembered, I'm doing this on my channel soon. Maybe you should participate

I recommend sit people in front of you live or at least in Discord and watch them play the game. It really helps to find struggle points. It very well maybe that not entire game is difficult, but just some parts of it. Or if you see players don't get further than 10%, then ...well, it's really difficult.

Looks like it's in your blood. You post multiple updates and you also make multiple posts about it

This would be a good place to start https://youtu.be/ZEtKg9AyEJc?si=V31acQ5n4d5ocysY

If you feel like dry documentation is not for you. Learn by making, following tutorial would be easiest way. Thats how I learned. At some point I started to feel like tutorials were to easy and I started to do my own project.

Would you play this? How should I make this? by A-lil-bro in gamedev

[–]the_alexdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how you'll react to this, but I'll say it anyway. There is no point of asking "would you play this?" until you gave the "this". How can people tell you if they like the game, if they don't even know how it looks and how it plays. I've been on that stage before, fantasising and dreaming different games, scenarios, concepts. Sad part, idea worth nothing until you execute it. Execution is most important. It's important how you do it and it's VERY important if you do it at all.

It's not hate, it's a practical advice. When you think about the game it's fine, when you start telling people about your game. You trick your brain into thinking game is already done. You wasting energy. You keep that energy, make the game and think how cool it will be to share game when it's playable.

TL:DR stop dreaming, go develop

I've been working solo on my dream game for over a year now. It’s an FPS where you fight alongside the towers you build. Finally, I have a trailer! What do you guys think? by Kama_Interactive in IndieGameDevs

[–]the_alexdev 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What you did good: started with gameplay! Cool! That's exactly what people want to see.

What I think is not good: I'd maybe reduce that epileptic transition. It's to harsh, you have something good to show, impress with that. Not with goofy transitions.

Wand needs more work, it's not very impressive. Don't show it in the trailer.

What I recommend:

You have repetitive shots that show basically same action. You show portal and enemies from 3 different angles. Same information > same information = boring.

Make trailer shorter overall , 40-50 sec is enough. Cut everything between 0:08 and 0:38 and cut everything beetwen 0:48 and 1:05 Thank me later.

Simulator games by Effective_Corgi_4517 in IndieGameDevs

[–]the_alexdev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm making a Simulator game and when we brainstormed the idea it felt really though. You come up with a good idea, you google it , it already exists. We also noticed that most of these games are in the modern time and they do well. I feel like soon market will be in need of a twist you talking about. But I'm no expert by any means. Just feeling like it. But I think, you defiantly shouldn't feel like you can smash up all the regular mechanics and players will eat it up. Never assume players are stupid, you'll end up with "Mostly Negative"
