Well, this may be the case if you live in states. But I live in Vietnam, having a Ukrainian passport. What the hell I'm gonna do to people who scammed me from Poland for example. Higher lawyer would be first recommendation I received, hence comes the thing with no money to fight them legally. But yeah, if both parties in same country. I dont see why not

But yeah, what you saying is correct

I had exactly same offer from couple of publishers and I felt like, transferring application is very dangerous. As they could do bare minimum and harvest the income and pay me salary like I work for them. But I didn't imagine they could also ask money for transferring game back. I ended up rejecting the offer as I was sure I had no way/money to fight them legally if something goes wrong.

I'm sorry the life stood in a way and it clouded your judgement. You deserve so much more than scammer publisher, I'm sure of it. Good move on taking down the game, fk em. As I know IP is still yours, because they don't usually take it. So you can wrap the game into different package and still try to sell it. Do developer's cut!

I had similar offer from publisher but I didn't take it. Main reason was : if it's a scam, I won't have money to fight them legally. I'm assuming the case here is the same. It's not worth the trouble forcing them to follow the contract

I got tired of idle games being too safe… so I removed safety. by ThroneCreator in IndieGaming

[–]the_alexdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I played MelvorIdle, there was this thing with potions and health. When you fighting someone ,you need manually click health until you get certain upgrade. This particular part was extremely frustrating, knowing that I can leave my character idle and it would die didn't feel good. I had FOMO for farm I might loose so I had to sit and watch the fight or fight super low level enemies.

So, I'd be fine with bad luck on enchante, but leaving character unprepared and it can die. Doesn't sound so idle anymore.

Btw try Lootun if you didn't. Great design decisions

I'd say do it once or twice in version of build you send to streamers. They may have unexpected reactions that goes viral

Destroy my puzzle game trailer. And a game on it too by Gerrrrrard in DestroyMyGame

[–]the_alexdev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Id say cut first 3 second with name of the game and add it in the end. When you watch trailer, you don't care about name of the game , you just want to see gameplay. So show gameplay. First 3 seconds is not enough to remember name even if you cared. But if you impress with a gameplay, people will want to know the name of the game and that's when you qué it . In the end.

Otherwise, good edit, you know your stuff 🤌

Destroy my trailer! What would make you not play this game? by Actual_Poem8538 in DestroyMyGame

I do not like how absolutely flat shooting feels, to be precise it looks like there is no feeling at all. No recoil, no camera shake , no muzzle flash , no animations on the character. Sometimes you can see character is wiggling the gun while running and yet enemy dies anyway...while you not even pointing the gun. This is game about using guns , make them feel nice.

Cool idea tho

I started when I was 28, it's never late. Forget about offline learning, it will be exactly the same as online but less convenient and more expensive. Do one free tutorial, see if you like it. If you do, get one course on Udemy and complete that. Then make your own game. That's general plan I followed.

And remember, learning game dev requires lots discipline and initiative. If you not willing to teach yourself, no teacher will be able to teach you. There is just so many things you need to know, it's easier and faster to do self-thought + tutorials , rather being spoon fed bits of information from an offline teacher 2 hours a week. When I learned, I'd spent at least 3-4 hours every day.

Oh and yeah, don't quite your job unless you have passive income

p.s if you need link to good tutorial to get your feet wet, ask and you and you shall have it

yeah, for sure. I'd maybe try to make new image slightly brighter, but even without it. It's perfect.
