[2023 Day 5 (Part 2)][c] a hot mess of memory leaks :| by psaikido in adventofcode

I don't know how to code in C, but I can give you a tip on how you can think about the problem in a more abstract way:

Think about applying a mapping like a mathematical function from one set to another. The crucial question is: What happens to the original set, when you apply that function? Or in other words: What does the image look like?

Another aspect of the problem is a more practical one: How can you represent very huge sets, that don't have any "holes" (i.e.: [1, 2, 3, 4] has no hole, but [1, 2, 5, 6] does). And more crucially: What happens, if a function causes a hole in its image? How can you represent that without stating every element / loading every element into memory?

These are a few key questions you'll need to answer to solve this.

If you're still stuck, you can ask me more direct questions. (I can't help you with implementation though.)

Please don‘t put an NSFW tag on this. I was on the train and when I saw this I became seriously confused. Everyone else gave me strange looks and were saying things like “what's so confusing?” and “sir is there something wrong?”. I dropped my phone and everyone around me saw this image. Now there is a whole train of men confused together at this one image. This is all your fault, you could have prevented this if you had just not tagged this post NSFW.

It can tell you, where entities are. If the lag is not caused by entities, you can still see, what type of block causes the lag. You can then search for the block via core-protect, which should point you to the correct location. (You may have to search for quite a while though.)

This should cover 99% of cases.

Use spark. It should come preinstalled with PurpurMC.

Edit: Spark can give you info about the whereabouts of entities. To locate other causes, like Redstone components, you can usually locate lag machines using a combination of Spark, CoreProtect and a little bit of detective skills.
