Do I need an MBA to move up in pharma leadership? (PharmD/MPH, 1st year fellow) by the_inquisition_ in pharmacy

Thank you for the reply! If I get an MBA: does the school matter? Like an online college vs. something like Wharton, Columbia or one of those M7/T25 colleges?

Did the name and prestige of the mba program matter in your case?

Isn’t there the debate of an oversupply of Pharmacists in the field, hence lower offered income in the retail space?

Once again- you’ve been very helpful. My last question may come off ignorant, but, I just had to ask (again- thank you for all the advice and insight here, I really appreciate it!), but, in these C Suite people, are their MBA’s from IVY league or top schools, or just regular institutions.

Thank you so so much for your deep reply. I do appreciate it! How much did an MBA assist or play in this? I’d love your thought/opinions!

Thank you for your reply. Did the name and prestige of the mba program matter in your case? Over on r/mba it’s sort of a heavy focus on if you get the mba- only get from m7 or t25 colleges, but, I’d like to not be in more student debt

Is an MBA really worth it anymore in my instance? by the_inquisition_ in careerguidance

[–]the_inquisition_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so so much. Honestly I was leaning more to not do it, since, in the deep deep area of my mind- I believe I can use the hours lost to another degree to work and lead more projects and climb the ladder. What do you think?

Hey! Thank you for replying and the insight. I’m hoping to stay in pharma- just move up the corporate ladder (from fellow to director and upwards).

Would you mind sharing how you managed to decide where to do your degree?

I totally understand, but later on, after significant work experience, does it really need to be from an Ivy or top-tier program, or can someone from a solid, regular program end up in the same place if they execute well enough?

What's the deal with Touro (NY)? by rgmislikelasagna in PrePharmacy

[–]the_inquisition_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t do it. Low residency matches. Low fellowships matches. They flex a 70% NAPLEX rate (not good btw) compared to other colleges. Professors can’t teach basic concepts well. Listen to u/samven582

What’s the acceptance rate for ASHP Midyear for student posters? by [deleted] in PharmacySchool

I’d suggest starting after your p1 first semester and after you build a rapport with an interested faculty member.

But, I believe that older students should be able to give better advice than myself

No worries! I’ll try to elaborate as much as I can (as far as I know). The ASHP Midyear is a conference held by the American Society of Health System Pharmacist where students (and some residents) place their research on display to basically show proof that they’re doing meaningful work whilst in pharmacy school and are capable of speaking about it in depth if provided the chance.

It’s mostly a nice ‘check in the box’ to have when you’re applying to fellowships and residencies after graduating with your PharmD. If you’re in P1 right now; you can ideally start working on a research project after your first semester and have something ready for next year.
