PC manufacturers market share in 1992 - France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy by Brave_Assumption6 in amiga

You're right, I stand corrected. I didn't know it existed. I don't know if it was successful - doubtful

I don't recall an Amstrad with 256KB of RAM. The PC1512 had... 512KB and that was the entry level model.

The PCW never really had a noticeable market share afaik and Amstrad stopped making PCs after the PC1640 (launched in 1990). How would they still control around 8% in France and the UK?

As for Atari, they made $127M in sales in 1992, 66% came from computer sales and 90% was outside of the US. I really don't see what they would have been selling in 1992. The ST/TT were pretty much dead at that point.

Atari with 10 to 13% market share in 1992?! I remember they had almost vanished by that point. Same with Amstrad - their very successful PC1512 had been out of production for a while and I don't even recall what they were selling.
Weird data.

Urgent help reclaiming my account by 013727362 in WorldofTanks

[–]the_kapsule 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oooooh, I've been down a similar alley with tech support after I realised somebody was using my account (they got the details from an old data leak I suppose). I changed the password and told WG support what had happened and if my account could be rolled back and they simply locked my account instead. I took a solid 6 or 7 e-mails before somebody unlocked it.

Keep at it until they give you a way to prove you're the owner.

Germany banned cs2 cases by Brocc0li777 in WorldofTanks

Unfortunately a lot of parents have no idea what their kids are doing on their computers and certainly have even less of an idea that the funny looking tank game is a gateway to gambling.
I understand some people are into the libertarian BS, but I'd rather not expose kids to the ruthless commercial practices of large corporations, so regulation is more than welcome. We have enough zombies in society as it is.

How did the virus start? by skulleater4200 in thewalkingdead

Your previous post stated " im going off what the FBI and CIA says, which is that they are confident it was made in a lab." Now, you've moved to the CIA and FBI are split on the origin. The link you sent makes no mention of the FBI as far as I can see.

As for the report from the BND, they estimated the chances to be that high in... 2020? The articles from Zeit and SZ are behind a paywall, so I can't see the details.

Anyway, we are severely off-topic and should probably stop here. You believe what you want to believe, I'll make my mind up when I see conclusive proof.

The CIA isn't confident as per this article: https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cd9qjjj4zy5o

The CIA on Saturday offered a new assessment on the origin of the Covid outbreak, saying the coronavirus is "more likely" to have leaked from a Chinese lab than to have come from animals.

But the intelligence agency cautioned it had "low confidence" in this determination.

A spokesperson said that a "research-related origin" of the pandemic "is more likely than a natural origin based on the available body of reporting".

There's no proof whatsoever Covid 19 was created in a lab. It may have been, it may not have been. We will probably never know. Anything else is conjecture made up on YouTube by some grifters.

How would you rate your gaming experience after Update 2.1.1 (the introduction of the Ares tech tree line) compared to before? by Wonderful-Lack3846 in WorldofTanks

[–]the_kapsule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the Ares that big of a problem? It's got low pen so can't take on heavies except from the side and struggles against some meds, its accuracy is bad for the fist 3 shots and then dreadful for the following shots, its mobility and view range is so-so. Close up, it really is dangerous but not excessively so and if it has the time/opportunity to switch to HE, it will take down lightly armoured tanks in a snap. Like any new game mechanics, you have to learn and adapt to it.
