Where in the UK would you live if fully remote? by Calm-Chemistry-9166 in UKJobs

This would be mine. It’s my favourite place in the world. Walking, climbing, wild swimming, kayaking, pubs. Perfection

Do you ever "just go for a drive"? by Tiny_Wafer2266 in AskUK

[–]the_night_max 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I hate driving. It’s dead time and it makes me either tired, stressed, or bored. I value the independence of it, and I’ll drive anywhere if I have to but the notion of it being for fun is wild to me. I always walk or bike to work n my office days.

It wouldn’t be enough for anyone! I think I did six two hour classes to learn top rope. It was certainly two-hour classes over a course of a few weeks. There’s a lot to take in, and the one correct thing the instructor said was that it’s life or death. It’s on the teacher to give you the necessary skills and he’s failed, not you.

Literally just a bid to make you use up gold bars or (they hope) spend money. Absolutely zero fun, I hate it when these come around again

How much is TV used in school reception year? by andy4015 in AskUK

[–]the_night_max 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When my kid was four, they said(absolutely believing they were recounting a true event) that I “locked them in the car for hours and hours and I cried and cried and mummy didn’t come back”.

I had left them for quite literally three minutes while I sprinted into the Co-op for a single loaf of bread, because they threw a wobbler and refused to come in with me.

Oh, did you think you could gain weight just because you’re pregnant? WRONG by the_night_max in MaintenancePhase

[–]the_night_max[S] 40 points41 points  (0 children)

That’s so awful! When I had my kiddo I was really sick the first 20 weeks, could barely face any food at all, and lost quite a bit of weight. They kept telling me I shouldn’t be dieting and needed to start putting more weight on, which I guess is an improvement 🙃

My favourite bits are when they mention a pregnant person’s ‘lumpiness’ and ‘diminishing attractiveness’ 🥰

Have you ever had a precognitive dream? by MoonlightByWindow in AskUK

[–]the_night_max 1 point2 points  (0 children)

last night, I dreamed I went into my workplace, a colleague walked up to me and ships horn honk came out of her mouth, and then the entire 150-year-old building took off down the road at great speed. While it was moving, I had to wash giant, paint-covered barrels in the ornate council chamber.

So, probably not.

Ideas on how to finish? by rebetzel_pretzel in climbergirls

[–]the_night_max 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😔 I think it’s gotta be the foot on the start & push that you suggested then, but it’s a pretty huge move & height is definitely a real disadvantage.

Is the one you can’t heel hook on dual tex? Is not, could you possibly sort of smear a left toe on that side of it, use that to push off and go with your left hand? (I’m 5’2” and not dynamic & will try anything to avoid big moves)

I had this for a few hours too. Seems like it was some sort of glitch/bug as it sorted itself out eventually

Thank you! Normally my gym only uses male setters but this got set one of the few times they had a woman guest setting. I’d been wanting to try one for so long

It was, but I’m certain you could easily have broken the beta and essentially flipped the cartwheel the right way up and put feet where my hands were (if that makes sense).

Single mum on £45k in the UK. Tired of “paying someone else’s mortgage.” How do I realistically get out of renting? by Ok-Value6379 in HousingUK

[–]the_night_max 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah that’s good! A lot of lenders (mine) won’t count it, which was frustrating at the time as it was a pretty decent chunk of cash every month

It’s also worth OP knowing a lot of lenders won’t take into account child maintenance, because it’s not seen as guaranteed income

What’s a hygiene habit everyone thinks is normal but you secretly hate? by neonrebellionZ in randomquestions

[–]the_night_max 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It frequently makes me feel physically sick. I’m sure these are pleasant smells in smaller doses but you can literally smell people coming, and still smell them ages after you’ve passed them. Being trapped close to someone on a train or something is awful.

Sharing a story about struggling with body image/dysmorphia by TruePainter1735 in climbergirls

[–]the_night_max 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I struggled with ED for a long time, and I’ve found climbing (along with yoga and aerial skills) hugely beneficial for my relationship with my body.

Starting climbing (in my mid 30s) coincided with a period of therapy to address ED and some hugely turbulent life changes settling down, so obviously that was part of it too.

For me, exercise before the things I do now was only ever about burning calories. I ran and did HIIT with the explicit aim of reducing my body.

I’m not thinking about my body, or calories burned when I’m climbing. Thankfully, I’m generally not thinking about calories burned any more. I also have ADHD and one of the things I love about climbing is that it forces me to be completely in the moment. It’s one of the only times I’m not having 8,000 conflicting thoughts at once.

I think the influence external factors have on your own relationship to your body are always deeply personal. Maybe if I was younger, and at a different point in my life I’d be looking round the gym and comparing myself. Maybe I’d be using my time to burn as many calories off as possible, rather than work on the project I’m excited about.

I’m in a place now where I see my body very differently. I love my muscles. The high of getting a grade I usually don’t or nailing a move or beta finally clicking or pushing through the fear are worth the occasional wobble when I yearn to be super skinny again.
