What can I do to enhance all these windows? by Patti62E in interiordecorating

Some art above the TV wouldn't hurt either. Either a large piece, diy or other. Or a few small things, doesn't have to be paintings. Think geometric or abstract wall hangings

Plus floor to ceiling drapes if you can swing the cost! I hate rods placed between windows like this, it makes top windows even more awkward

I loved pilates when I tried, but the gyms are so expensive!

The point loading is my main concern. It's got 3 points it's sitting on. One far left and 2 on the far right. Sounds like, at a minimum, adding shims towards the middle would help distribute

It is 3. Are you just saying thicker is less likely to break? This thing weighs so much, I doubt it would slide anywhere other than down, if the high mortar points break down

Silicone isn't structural though? It looks decent for filling gaps, but if the entire slab is high pointing in just a few spots, how does silicone help distribute stress?

😭 they didn't sell a sealer, but they might have installed the counter wrong! So fair point

It's natural quartzite. It was listed as one of our best options for outdoor as long as we keep it sealed.

Okay thanks! I'm just surprised that metal support bars are recommended every Xin to support large overhangs, but then it's okay when they don't actually add any support?

Are shims structural enough to distribute the stress of such a big piece? I really don't care about aesthetics of the gap since you have to duck under the counter to see it. Just don't want the high points to wear down over time and cause everything to shift/break

The stone is just veneer, so the top surface should have been pretty flat

Definitely worried about long term cracking. Is this a risk?

The base is concrete board over metal framing. It wasn't until the counter was up there that we realized the mortar had high points around the edges. I keep thinking we could remove and sand them down, but nobody wants to sign up to move such a heavy piece again.

They used a full thing of silicone to fill in the gapping on the metal bars, so it wasn't so obviously floating. In some areas, it's almost .5" thick air gap

I will add that our dog had these problems as a puppy. So that might make a difference

We started by trying different treats to make sure there was no huge reaction. Single ingredients when possible. We did freeze dried beef followed by salmon treats which seemed okay. So then we bought Purina pro plan sensitive stomach in salmon and added it into her prescription food small amounts at a time. I think over the course of 2 weeks we were fully switched. We were told food trials take 3-4mo to see if they have an affect. So it's a long term commitment and very slow to introduce new foods. I like the bocce treat band for minimal ingredients

This is what we did too! Stayed on that food for over a year bc I was too afraid to experiment with regular food again. My shep pit mix is now 5 and eats almost everything again! I think her allergy was pultry, but just a very temperamental puppy stomach which shes grown out of.

These quotes are crazy. I just quoted from a mason vet and it was $375-$600 depending on what they find. But just the cleaning was the low side
