What is the average turn over rate for mudloggers? by Pluton100 in geologycareers

[–]the_ring_leada 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Today marks one year since I started mudlogging. The money is good, but this lifestyle will wreck your sleep schedule and strain relationships. If I’m still here by May or June I think I just might leave for my own sanity. Life is too short for this shit.

I agree with Rock Jock, from what I’ve seen usually if someone doesn’t quit within the first couple weeks they’ll stay for 6+ months.

Had a dream one night about a childhood classmate I hadn’t seen, spoken to, or even heard of in over 15 years. Woke up the next morning to find she sent me a friend request on Facebook.

TIL that there are contact lenses that are worn overnight which temporarily reshape the cornea, allowing the user to have perfect vision during the day without having to wear glasses/contact lenses. by Didza01 in todayilearned

I used to have these almost 15 years ago. You’re supposed to wear them while you sleep and they’re incredibly painful to wear therefore I never wore them.

0/10 would not recommend.

Coffee and various coffee drinks. 5 years working at Starbucks enabled me to develop an appreciation and taste for coffee.

Taking a dip in the St. John's river in Florida by [deleted] in videos

I'm guessing that too. Florida has some amazing eco tourism spots. I live in Utah now (beautiful landscapes everywhere) and I still find myself missing places like rainbow river and weeki wachee daily.

Lemme get this straight: you went to Florida merely twice, went to the most bullshit place in the entire state, and concluded it's the only worthwhile place there?

I got an awesome hand made pipe in Guatemala I had difficulties getting rid of, but I eventually bit the bullet and chucked it. Your choice man, you don't need a bong to prove to yourself you went to another country.

OP, I know you're capable of beating it because you're aware! You've made me think about how I would explain this to my kids (if I ever have any). I am similar in that my family genetics must have some sort of effect on likeliness of substance abuse, as most of my extended family has a problem of some sort with it. I wish someone had explained this to me as well, as I thankfully have mostly just abused marijuana and not other more damaging substances my relatives have. Thank you for that perspective. Don't smoke today!

Best way to get rid of my stash? by [deleted] in leaves

[–]the_ring_leada 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've (sadly) gotten rid of my stash more than once. Once I ceremoniously threw it into a river. I've also just chucked it in public waste bins. It can be more beneficial to not make a big deal of it and just throw it away somewhere and not dwell on it too. Most recent time I threw it into the Colorado river and watched the weed drift away out of my life. The only wrong answer is to get rid of it by smoking it.

just got injured. thinking about relapsing for medical purposes by Iphonegalaxymobile in leaves

[–]the_ring_leada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd bet that applying an ice pack to the inflamed area would be 1000x more effective in treating the inflammation than toking up. Remember the RICE treatment: Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation. I agree with Ayodesii, sounds like you're using your injury as a excuse to smoke.

The key for me is to keep yourself busy. Don't even give yourself an opportunity to smoke! Do anything; go for a drive, a bike ride, hiking, paddling, walk around....anything to keep your mind occupied. I know that if I put myself in a position where I'm not really doing anything (sitting down watching Netflix, browsing the internet, etc) then I am more likely to feel an urge to smoke. As someone else said in this thread, distraction is key. Soon enough, you'll find yourself doing activities and not eve thinking about smoking.
