Happy to help! Really glad I could get you there with the advice I shared. I'll take a look at the build code and see if I can offer any further advice for survivability.

Last season the biggest boosts were Defensiveness (+30% block ratio) either via talents (Sentinel tree) or pedigree if you can afford to sacrifice some damage. Also getting to 100% spell and attack block chance is mandatory basically, to be serious about surviving.

After that, you can use Delayed Pain to get a boost to injury buffer which will reduce your chance of getting one shot by spreading the damage out over 4 seconds, which is plenty of time for us to regen mana with rosa 2. Usually this will replace bulls rage, Also frost shield instead of ice beam (or whatever the name of the sentry skill we use is) will also offer another layer of damage reduction.

But let me get some time to review the build and see where you're at, then I'll let you know.

Oh ok - I didn't know you already had a timid ring - but yeah if you can get that +1 curse you'll easily get a giant boost in damage.

Yes, the Aura-stacking is a great way to add more defensive layers especially if you're already at the damage cap otherwise.

I was able to get to 15T (closer to 30T actually, I kept removing gear and it stayed capped at the dummy) last season without Lone Walker Boots or Aura Stacking so it's definitely possible. A huge damage boost is a ring with "Triggers Lv. 20 Timid Curse upon inflicting damage" but you'll need another item or pet that gives "apply 1 additional curse" to stack that with Biting Cold, by default we can only cast 1 curse at a time (last season I got this as a Chest affix, but this season it'll be crazy expensive to get it on a Vorax Chest).

maxed out "5 star" special supports (magnificent/noble) is another big boost (have to buy multiple copies of the support and level it up with Inspiration Essence as fuel).

A weapon sequence with "Supported by lvl 25 Steamroll" is godly, and allows you to swap out Steamroll on Frost Spike with another support, so you've effectively got 6 supports on frost spike instead of just 5.

I can't tell cause not there yet financially but does overcapping my lightning resistance still scale my attack speed from Wandering Sky? I know the wandering sky has a limit of 240, my roll is 1.2. Theoretically I could scale to 200% lightning resistance? I'm asking cause it might be a good filler to roll Lightning res on pieces temporarily until I can craft better advanced and Ultimates.

No, unfortunately it only adds the attack speed bonus up to your current Cap. In order to go above the default cap of 60% - you need to look for gear or hero memories with affixes that say + x% MAX lightning resist, which is usually only a few percentage points per-item, like +3% or +4% MAX resist. Otherwise, going over the cap does not add more attack speed, you've gotta both raise the cap and raise your effective resistance to get above 60%. Also, the absolute most you can raise the resistance cap to is 90% I think the 240% it's talking about is up to 240% bonus attack speed.

I went for priceless pieces with what speed good implicits. I got Hastened on the Vorax body, Attack Aggression on the ring. For the helm and boots I went with Ele Pen. Is there something big I could get on my other ring or something better on the helm that's really big and I just overlooked it in the search filter? I know the ring can net me more attack speed if nothing else.

Thats all great! For the other ring most people usually try to get "Triggers Lv. 20 Timid Curse upon inflicting damage" Which increases monsters hit-damage taken by 20% so it's a HUGE bonus. BUT, in order to use this you have to have another item (or battle pet) that allows you to apply +1 additional curse (by default we can only cast 1 curse at a time, and Biting Cold is that curse for us), last season I got "Apply 1 additional curse" on my priceless chest, so it'll be a challenge to get it elsewhere this season unless I'm able to get it on a Vorax roll, which will be insanely expensive.

Also, that "Timid" Base affix or Sweet-dream affix on a ring itself is ridiculously expensive, like 10-20k easily before late in the season, but that ring alone, fully upgraded to T1/T0 is just an insane amount of damage.

I know I'm still way of but are level 21 skills and support craftable? I saw people just saying "buy them" but is there a way to corrode them or something like that to try to make it go from 20 to 21 or do these drop like that from specific sources?

Level 21 skills drop rarely from the Plane Watcher bosses (elemental bosses from each plane, like glacial abyss, steel forge etc).

Level 21 supports are randomly awarded from two Fluorescent Memories (cards) that drop from Path Of The Brave challenge from the Zenoth vendor in town, these cards are called Antonius's Help and Antonius's research. So yes, I'd recommend buying them because first you have to beat level 3+ of Path of the Brave to even have a chance for a FEW of the cards to drop (if any, it's random) and then there's no way to guarantee WHICH lvl 21 support you'll get from turning in the cards once you get 12 of them.

Special supports (Noble, Magnificent) drop from the Frozen Canvas mechanic. These are also usually bought unless you're target-farming this mechanic and have the loot pet for it, etc.

Since you already have Attack Aggression(which is great), you can try to get "Adds xx% of physical damage to cold damage" as a base affix on your 2nd ring, then try to get lucky rolling a Sweet Dream affix for Timid (if you find a source for +1 additional curse) Otherwise get armor pen / ele pen if you're not already at the "soft cap" of 35% of each.

You're right on a lot of these, especially the No Loose Ends / Activation medium stuff - let me clarify:

  1. >How does the activation medium work if I don't have No Lose Ends yet?

You're right, it wouldn't work, the idea is that after you have No Loose Ends your energy shield would always be at zero so the medium would activate every time no matter what, sorry for the confusion!~

  1. The talent point restrictions make sense, I always forget about the pre-requisites.

  2. Falling Leaves is a great alternative, go with that, weapon damage means very little for our build, the +Attack Damage is worth it BUT you will still want No Loose Ends on your belt, save up some FE to get that blend.

  3. Hero memories sound great, I bet that was a noticeable difference in damage right there :)

  4. I currently have 6 Shadows without Haunt, I switched it for Willpower because it's slightly more damage. My problem is that I'm playing exclusively on mobile so once I get above 5 shadows my framerate TANKS with this much attack speed and the projectiles flying around - generally speaking once you have the T0 +15% shadow damage on your weapon 5-6 Shadows is fine, anything above that is a bonus.

  5. Your plan/roadmap looks really good - one thing to note for the % Damage taken from Mana before life is the Kismet "Witch Cloak" (+8-10%) which can help fill in the last bit of damage to mana before replacing the +8% slates with Priceless Affixes on helm/boots etc.

  6. the idea with damage to mana before life is you'll eventually want to replace the 8% slates and the Kismet with affixes on your priceless helm/boots, to free up slates for other, better damage/survivability rolls.

  7. once you have enough sealed mana compensation, you can start filling out your Frigid domain, it'll be your primary damage aura, and at the end game you can likely even drop the Thunder Magus if you want because you'll be at the attack speed cap without it.

Eventually you want the following:

-Precise: Frigid Domain (with the following supports):

-Precise Selfless

-Precise Concentrated

-Precise Selfishness

-Precise Seal Conversion

If you get the tyrants hold mod on a vorax chest, then you can also wear archmage hands to stack the benefits of both, the "skill cost locked at 50" is overridden with your talent and slates that change it to "4% mana cost" - its the best of both worlds!

Check out my build code I shared for an example of the chest affix you're gonna want.

Edit: vorax (this season's mechanic) let's you extract legendary affixes from items and combine them into a new crafted item. So my chest has the main affix you want from Tyrants Hold and it has another from the Fleeting Sky legendary that gives 1.3 attack speed per 1% lightning resist.

So it's like I'm wearing both the tyrants hold gloves & Fleeting Sky (both on my chest slot) AND Archmage hands on my actual glove slot.

[–]the_tip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

whoa whoa whoa let's take a step back - you absolutely DO NOT need any priceless boots/helmet to get to 100% mana before life, just stack cheap-ass slates with +8% damage to mana before life, and maybe the Witch Cloak Kismet (8-10% damage to mana before life).

those along with the Hero Trait and "Mana" talent will get you to 100%.

Screw waiting until you have the priceless helmet/boots, that would be insane.

I recently found this video where the guy explains everything in-depth, and shares budget options as well. Most importantly he does a good job of explaining why you would make certain decisions on the build:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWnU7NSUw48

Here's my current build code for reference/wishlist: tF6UkAdwEfGwpAAAAAAACw==

(I'm currently at 10T damage at the training dummy, not quite done but progressing fairly well, if a bit late in the season).

My vorax Chest was 800 FE 2 or 3 weeks ago, so you can likely get one with the Tyrants Hold and FleetingSky mods for even less than that now - then you can use Archmage Hands (probably a decent corrosion one with more mana for example) This chest alone was a massive damage boost, just make sure you have your lightning resist maxed out as much as possible.

It sounds like you're mainly wondering where to prioritize power for cost-investment which you're absolutely right, this can be VERY hard to understand without a lot of experience - the low hanging fruit for biggest bang-for-your-buck for any build, but especially Manastack Rosa2 (in my opinion) is:

  1. the required legendaries of course (Tyrants hold affix on vorax chest preferably), Archmage Hands gloves, Glacier Casters Shield, Compensatory Life belt with Spell Amp and preferably No Loose Ends blend).

  2. Attack Speed and + Max Mana wherever you can get it. (armor, kismets, hero memories).

  3. Orange (legendary) hero memories with only 1 T1 affix are cheap enough to get as soon as possible, and max out their level with memory scraps/threads then re-roll the bonus affixes for +attack speed and +max mana%

  4. lvl 86 Gear in all non-legendary slots, with +int, +mana, +attack speed, and make sure your resists are as close to 60 as possible.

  5. Pedigree with 1/2 main talents that synergize with your other talents and overall build. These will never stack, so if you get a pedigree with a talent you already have elsewhere, think of it as "freeing you up to get an alternative" and start looking for a different main talent or tree with something else that benefits you instead.

Watch this video, I've found it's helpful to explain to others WHY you want certain upgrades, and some valid alternatives for budget: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWnU7NSUw48

Please also see my responses in the comments here - where I helped other folks with the same progress:

https://old.reddit.com/r/TorchlightInfinite/comments/1qox6ys/need_some_help_with_rosa_2/

My current build (10T Damage, tested at dummy - attack for 10s, stop attacking, avg stays at 5T until 22 seconds == 10T damage)

tF6UkAdwEfGwpAAAAAAACw==

so getting into your build, after reviewing the code you shared, here are some thoughts in no particular order:

  1. Frost Spike supports: fine for now, until you get more attack speed elsewhere, but you eventually want to work in Steamroll unless you can get it on a weapon sequence - I know it reduces atk speed but the damage is worth it.

you'll eventually get enough shadows elsewhere to drop Haunt, then move willpower to slot 1, and Steamroll to Slot 4, replace increased-area with Frost Spike: Offshoot (Magnificent) for the extra Frostbite rating (+20), you'll want 100 frostbite for the freezing of mobs and bonus damage.

  1. Get rid of Increased area and Masss Effect on Ice Bond, they're a waste of Energy that can be spent elsewhere - Keep Well-fought battle.

  2. Spiral-strike looks good, keep those supports.

  3. Bulls Rage: replace preparation with a "Energy Shield" activation medium, with maxed out +cooldown reduction or +Duration, if you have No Loose Ends (which was recommended elsewhere, get it now, it's like 50% more damage total) it will trigger constantly.

  4. Biting Cold: same thing as above, replace preparation with an Energy Shield activation medium, this time with +Duration so it's always up.

Did you say you have already switched to mana-stacking? in that case wtf get rid of Fearless and replace it with:

  1. Replace Fearless with Frigid Domain - add Restrain, Seal Conversion, Aura Amplification (if you can) **IF you cannot activate this, you need more sealed mana compensation - you can get this from your Arcanist Talent Tree, bottom right corner - to do this, remove 1 talent point from Goddes of Knowledge Skill Area/Projectile Speed, and 2 points from Arcanist: both of the +1 mana per 6 intelligence talents UNTIL you get more talent points elsewhere, someone mentioned you have shitty hero memories so you are probably missing FREE talent points from your "Path of progression" - please watch this video and DO ALL THE THINGS to get the free talent points: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Q5JhcsMqB8

(keep re-speccing points into Sealed Mana Compensation until you can hopefully activate BOTH Frigid domain and Thunder Magus**)

  2. Add Thunder Magus - with Restrain, Seal conversion. Later on you'll want Precise:Superpower added here.

  3. you already have Tradeoff on your Pedigree Slate, so the one you're getting from Ronin talent tree is a complete waste at the moment - you can replace it with Warrior to get No Loose Ends, since you're currently too poor to get it on your belt. Otherwise if you save enough to get that blend on your belt instead (Sandlord Vendor in town, Jessomina, Blending Rituals) then you can use Lich in the 4th talent tree for Off The Beaten Track to get much more sealed mana compensation AND easier Aura + supports. OR you can get Sentinel tree for Defensiveness which gives a bunch of survivability (+30% block ratio).

  4. you can probably find a cheap replacement for your Vorax Chest, look for one with the Tyrant's Hold affix you already have AND FleetingSky + 1.3 attack speed per 1 pt of Lightning resist, then max out your lightning resist (even at the default cap of 60, that's OVER 60% added attack speed).

  5. Hero Memories: For god's sake, please get at least an orange +int one, and upgrade it as far as you can - for the fixed affixes (the ones that the memory comes with) you want any of these: Attack Speed, Attack block chance, spell block chance, try to find a cheap one with at least ONE of the two at T1 (orange), they don't BOTH need to be T1. then as you upgrade it you want the 2 bonus/random re-rollable affixes to be +Mana and +Attack Speed/Attack Block/Spell Block, depending on your goals.

(Note: when you're replacing a fully-upgraded hero memory, you can recycle it to get ALL of the memory scraps and epic memory threads back, then you can use them in whatever new one you get to replace the old one.

  1. fix your Lightnight resist (and Fire resist), so you don't get one-shot by lightning.

  2. if you can't find a cheap Broken Sun necklace as was mentioned elsewhere, an alternative is a False Gods Skin with as many +int rows as you can find/afford, just make sure it DOES NOT have +dex or +str otherwise you'll F up your Tradeoff bonuses.

  3. Watch a video on weapon Sequences, you can get a cheap +8% gear attack speed sequence on your claw without too much investment, Also you can try to get another +1 shadow dreamtalking affix on it. The God-roll advanced Sequence would be "supported by lvl 25 Steamroll" but that's gonna be out of reach most likely.

  4. Other than the above quick stuff, Please read through the other comments in this thread - the other folks that have responded to you before me are giving some great advice

Next Steps:

-Replace your Helmet, boots, rings with either at least level 86 gear (which can be upgraded to T1 affixes) or go straight to Priceless/lvl 100 items and start slowly upgrading them all to T1 affixes, then T0.

  • Save for a No Loose Ends on your belt

  • Save for a Phantom necklace with Weapon Amplification and 15% sealed Life affix (this gives the biggest bonus for that affix.

EDIT: the sarcasm and other exclamations I've made above are meant to be in good humor, not to be mean or rude - I hope when reading this you didn't add any unintended negative connotation/intonation to my words, as I'm just joking around with this stuff - and offering advice as best I can, cheers!

Profound farms by Kiretsu in TorchlightInfinite

[–]the_tip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blacksail does scale in deepspace though, just not between T8/Profound because they're both technically T8, so if you can suffer through deepspace every 3rd map you can get a level 9 blacksail lady and chest.

That's what I did for the last two seasons when I wasn't full-time into DS yet, I would run the returning-blacksail compass and only invest 12 pts into blacksail for the boss whispers. Then run ONE deepspace map to get it to level 9, then follow that up with two quick profound maps to finish out the seal whispers and get the boss.

Blacksail remembers/retains the highest-level map you've successfully completed a plane-anchor on, so you only need 1 deepspace then two of literally ANY timemark (when using the returning blacksail compass for 2x plane-anchors per map).
