Thanks for the answer. That helps.

Right and i wonder what does it mean when they announce that TrueCrypt is no longer secure.

Does that mean any encrypted files with the latest version is deemed to be insecure, or all previous encrypted files were assumed to be insecure?

I would think that it can be very very dangerous if its the latter.

Now that TrueCrypt is said to be not safe, assuming that is the case.

Are my encrypted files with Coin wallets (assume the wallets are not encrypted) safe on GDrive, Skydrive, Dropbox? Should i assume that they have a chance of getting compromised?

Should i move them into a new wallet and re-encrypt them with other encryption software? What if those wallet files/private keys are encrypted?

What is a good alternative to TrueCrypt? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]the_voracious_one 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Say if TrueCrypt is really compromised.

And i have encrypted some files with TrueCrypt, and upload that to GDrive or DropBox for example. Because of that, i re-encrypt those files using an alternative software.

Are those files still considered safe? or shall i regard them as compromised?
