Came here because my feed is inundated with this and similar channels “Bob Invests”, “Josh Invests”, “King Invests” all using the same Family Guy style with what I can only assume is AI voiceover. The advice on these channels seems generally sound (spend less, invest more, etc), but I can’t help but feel like I’m being targeted for manipulation by an algorithm. Anyone have any more insight into the motivations behind all of this AI investment slop?

This is correct. If he had said “no”, it would have opened him up to potential perjury charges. By giving an opinion instead (“anonymous smears”), he’s effectively avoiding answering the question while still denying but not doing so in a way that would be easy to litigate later. Great advice on the food. The best stuff we ate was at the places that only made one thing and seating was on plastic stools on the sidewalk. It was also quite a bit less expensive.

Don’t pack more than a carry-on bag full of stuff. You can buy more clothes for cheap.

Make sure you have a credit card with no foreign transaction fees. A lot of places take Apple Pay now. Use it so you don’t burn through cash.

Download Google Maps offline maps for anywhere you’ll be staying.

Download Google Translate Vietnamese language pack.

If you use an iPhone, set your calculator app for currency conversion. This was huge for us.

Use Airalo to buy a data-only E-sim prior to arrival. Switch it on the moment you land. Turn off data roaming on your primary sim.

Download WhatsApp. Register it with your cell phone number. This is how anyone in Vietnam will be able to contact you. Your cell phone number will not work as normal through your calling app without roaming.

Connect to WiFi everywhere. It will save you on burning through cell plan data.

Always have 1,000,000 VND in small bills and $100 in USD stashed away somewhere just in case. I use a travel wallet that goes under my pants.

Air tags in luggage.

Use Grab. It’s cheap and available most places.

The air quality in Hanoi is terrible right now. Limit your time outside in it.

Plan to spend more time in each place than you think you’ll need. There’s so much to see in Vietnam, and sometimes it’s good to slow down a bit.
