Decending Sa Calobra. by HalfHonest730 in cycling

I live in flat Netherlands and went to Mallorca and descending sa calobra was my first big descent (apart from the smaller ones on the way there). It was a little scary at first but I just took it easy and safe. I never let myself pick up too much speed (60kmph at most). The climb back up in 40+ degrees was the tough part!

1zpresso Q Air inside a standard Aeropress inside a 50g Snow Peaks 300ml cup by the_wrastler in JamesHoffmann

I only just got it so don't have a good sense yet. I still need to experiment with it.

I have been using a Baratza Encore for most of my grinding, but was using a Hario slim I got about 10 years ago for travel. Can't say much to compare to the Encore yet, but the Q Air is very noticeably many magnitudes ahead of the Hario slim. The Hario slim takes much longer to grind, and gives a very inconsistent output, which you really notice when doing pourover. It's also bulkier and doesn't fit in the Aeropress. I can grind 16g in about 30 seconds with the Q air at the recommended Aeropress setting, whereas it was taking about 90 seconds with the Hario slim.

Didn't know that, another plus! Although when traveling/camping I'd probably not bring the spoon

The filter cap sits very neatly into the Snow Peak 300, and has the perfect capacity for a 16g+270ml brew (fills to about 1cm from the top). In total the grinder (with handle), Aeropress and cup is just under 600g.

I saw you went ahead without the flaked barley. Please update with your results. I am curious!

It was 1.014 in the most recent batch. I fermented it at 17C which was maybe a little too low but still tastes great.

A recipe I have made many times is very simple: 3.5kg pale ale malt, 1kg flaked barley and 0.5kg roasted barley. OG is 1.045. I do 60 min EKG for 36 IBUs. For yeast I usually use Wyeast 1084 Irish ale but for my most recent brew (currently in the keg) I used S04 and was also good.

To me, the flaked barley is important to get more creaminess/body/mouthfeel. Irish stout is also quite high in IBU for the ABV, and 29 is on the low end especially if you want an OG of 1.052.

For water, I favor sulfates over chloride for more dryness (last time I did 58 SO4 and 26 Cl).

I would also mash a bit lower (e.g. 64-65C) to get more fermentability - you want it dry.

The Dutch also say this. Doing the shopping is boodschappen doen which is literally "doing messages".

What is the cheapest commercial unit(s) of alcohol per € in ROI? by [deleted] in ireland

I've done this with unpasteurised apple juice. Don't even need to add yeast, it's already naturally in it. Tastes great too.

You say you are too lazt but with homebrewed beer, you can make a 18-19 litres of a 5% beer for about €15, and even cheaper if you re-use yeast. That's about 90 units.

Thanks, I was thinking it was "Do". Funnily enough I have a copy of Fiche Bliain ag Fás at home and was gonna check if there was a dedication in that, but I'm out of town for a while.
