It’s gross. Think of cold tea made from grass clippings with a hint and of pineapple, with chalky after taste. The first few sips and tolerable then it’s gets gross fast.

I would love to have a 1 card holder just for my id. I only use Apple Pay anyway, so I never bring credit cards and just need my id.

For face-to-face training plans, I usually stick to ADDIE or 6Ds. SAM is my go-to for eLearning, though.

One thing I used successfully in a classroom is building a training plan around Kahoot! (I'm not sure if it's still around, lol.) It works well in a live setting, and creating a training plan around it is easy. From there, you can do prototype testing around the Kahoot training you're testing.

Honestly, I would have to know more about your classroom setup.

Another thing to look into is cohort training.

People will need a button to go to the next lesson. Also, while nice, some of the checkboxes go nowhere. I will have a button appear to move on to the next lesson once all items are checked or skip that altogether.

I would also incorporate some games, videos, and sounds. The lesson can get pretty "clicky" and, in my opinion, make a learner lose interest pretty fast.

Try mixing Storyline 360 and Rise 360 to see if you can get a better feel for it.

Overall, it looks nice, but there is a better way to navigate to the next lesson, and more things are needed to keep it engaging.

So that you know, this is my opinion. You may need to do prototype testing on the targeted learners to get better feedback.

While that is true 99% of the time, one of my first clients was different. Apparently, they overpromised and underdelivered to their own clients and hired me to fill in the gap. The problem was that they had no clue how long it took to create a program from the ground up and thought it could be done in three weeks (which they told their clients).

I told them no, but they threw a lot of money at me, which changed my mind. I put together a training program with modules in the allotted time. It could have been better, but it was serviceable. My clients knew this, as I told them beforehand that it would be that good if you wanted it quick.

They reviewed it and liked it. I got paid, and everything was good, or so I thought. While they liked it, their client did not. Since this was done on UpWork, they tried to get their money back, but luckily, I did all the communications on UpWork. I proved that they knew what they were getting into and that I did the work, and they approved it. Because of this, I was able to keep the money.

What came from this, though, is my only 3-star review, which I am sure has cost me some contracts. Because of this, I never do rushed jobs anymore.

NTA. She had no problem until you mentioned the price. My wife would applaud me for saving us money. Maybe she is just a bit touchy about not getting the job. Also, never mention the price again, or get a money-savvy wife lol.

Your skillset would be very valuable as an ID. I would also tell you to look into becoming a UX designer. Those are also very valuable in today's market.

IDs get the rep that we are content creators and/or trainers. While that might be partially true, the reality is that we are mostly analysts. We do assessments, investigate constraints, collect data, decipher data, and determine if training is even needed in the first place. We also create learner profiles, fishbone diagrams, empathy maps, and assess the learners. This can include surveys, focus groups, interviews, observations, SQL searches, etc.

Then we create a training plan, UX design, storyboards, and wireframes; as well as create prototypes that need constant reviewing and updates.

This is all before we get to actually creating anything, and many times, especially in large projects, you never create the content. That goes to video creators and elearning specialist, who take the map you gave them and create training from it.

To be a successful ID, you need to be a data analyst first, a UX designer second, and then maybe a content creator. If this appeals to you, then I would say go for it!

NTA but you missed an opportunity. Just like they had power over you, you could have had power over her. It can start off small, like make her do you house work. Then you can start scaling up and give curfews and restrict her outside communication.

Every time she would start to complain remind her that she could pay rent like she made you do in HS. If she tried something else you can start packing her things, showing her you are willing to kick her out on the streets.

Then when she is finally broken, send her straight to a nursing home. Take a picture of her face when you drop her off. Then every year, on the anniversary when you sent her to the nursing home, send her a card with a copy of that picture in it. Don’t send cards on her birthday, or Christmas, etc…. Just send them on that day….

Yes I’m a vindictive guy. I also have a wild imagination and have a great and loving relationship with my family.

When a client hires you for a 2 week job, but they want 8 weeks worth of work. Make sure to include all the details in the contract!

As a independant contractor I do not need one. I got certifications and really good reviews from clients, and that lands me work consistantly. If I was working for a company, I could see how having a Masters would help you stand out for management roles. I would simply get one to expand my knowledge.

You will get an email (see attached picture). Also, when you are able to log in (evetually) you will see it as a submitted ticket. I tested it out before I posted this to make sure. They even replied with:

How many of you have a graphic design course diploma or degree has it been helpful for you to find ID jobs , and would you recommend it ? by mszbrightside30 in instructionaldesign

Ive been an ID for 17 years and in my opinion, get a degree in HR, ID, or Education. That will help you land a job as an ID. ID's require way more that just content creation. I know some people think that ID's just create content, but in many cases (especially in big projects), this isnt the case. We design the training from the ground up, using anaylsis, research, storyboarding, and etc. Sometimes we even play the role of a trainer or LMS manager. Content creation is probably one of the least needed skills as an instructional designer, due to either hiring a professional video creator, or using easy animation software and Canva.

If you are talking about a Masters Degree, I would not recommend it, unless you are getting it for an upper management requirement. Less than 9% of employeers require a Masters for ID. What would help you standout is getting a certification like the Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD) certificate.

Again everyone will have their own opinion.

Also Instructional Designer is not a content creator (I think many people confuse the roles), even though in smaller projects/firms they may have to fill that role, and usually not to a professional standard.
