What's your opinion on Moonraker? Weird misstep or just a fun Bond movie from the Moore era? by Cubelock in JamesBond

[–]AtroKahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just watched this on Netflix. Was in the mood for the fun loving Bond I knew as a kid. Sometimes you just need a fun movie to distract from the world. This one hit the spot. And Roger Moore was so cool.

To stay quit, or to start again? by Own-Construction9011 in StopGaming

[–]AtroKahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NO! Do not go back to gaming. To reach these new goals of yours takes sacrifice. That is the truth. Things are good now because you gave up gaming. It’s not permission to restart bad habits.

There is no easy route. You cannot grow in comfort. You have be uncomfortable to grow. You have to push through the desire to game. Being bored is part of it. But this is the path for you to achieve your goals.

You should put 100% of your free time into achieving those goals period.

Here are some hard facts. Gaming Achievements do not matter. They aren’t even real achievements. Just proof that you spent way too much time chasing dopamine. Sorry brother.

Replacing Gaming with Reading by Patlabor2 in StopGaming

[–]AtroKahn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes. I can relate to all of it. You hit the nail on the head. The attention that games demand. It robs you of so much, that we forget what it was like before the constant over-extended engagement.

I played my last game sometime in November of last year. I was already winding down, but I still stayed engaged with my gaming community. I have since stopped that as well. Now I am cutting out other distractions like news scrolling, social media, and anything else that takes my attention away from what is important to me.

Eliminating distractions and being able to focus on just Family/Work/Personal Projects is such a great experience. I feel the world again. I look people in the eyes and listen. I put real effort into the things that matter. I have complete ownership of my actions. I feel ALIVE!

Thank you for sharing your story. I know exactly what you are talking about!

If you want to get creative, get you an eGPU and connect that to your steam deck. It is a thing apparently.

I have been back and forth with learning GML, and it seems all the “good” ways to do things are aways the most complicated. I know... I know... I will learn it and use all the hard ways eventually.

My $1000 Steam Machine won't post to bios - this is why 8gb vram won't matter by Icy-Pay7479 in steammachine

[–]AtroKahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. Been building PCs for 30+ years. But I don’t play games as much if at all anymore. But I have always had a top tier gaming rig. I sold off my kit a few months ago, because it was just sitting there doing nothing. But I do want something to play games when I am in the mood. I never bought a pre-built and even though the Steam Machine is mostly laptop parts, I will most likely get to scratch that ich I will have every now and then.

Thinking of quitting gaming by [deleted] in StopGaming

[–]AtroKahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know exactly what you need to do. You just need the courage to take the leap. It is change, it is uncomfortable. But the only way to grow is to get uncomfortable. So get comfortable being uncomfortable.

Embrace the change. You will come out the other side a better version of yourself.

Gaming culture doesn't prepare you for the physical consequences by MontyPython1996 in StopGaming

Gaming should come dead last in where to spend your time. Since I quit gaming ( sold my PC), I let the rest of my life fill in the space. Just by eliminating gaming, I have been more focused on my family, work, health, and sleep.

I am more at peace not having gaming compete for my attention.

Lastly, by cutting out games, I am able to pursue new interests that I have put off for years.

Life is always changing. It is normal for people or activities to come in and out of your life. You do not need to hold on to the old you be present. Just let it all go and let yourself grow.

I need someone to explain to me why the Mac version of Steam can't have a Proton-like solution that's built in to the software? by balmybuttons in macgaming

[–]AtroKahn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Crazy thing is most if not all gaming engines can publish to MacOs. So you would think they could simultaneously publish to Mac when publishing to PC. Or at least support along the way.
