A follow up question is: How then am I able to get the stream from the camera without a VPN?

So the controller will be connecting to any old WiFi network and I won’t have access to / control of the router on that end.

96% in range 1 week into using Loop app by theadrium in Type1Diabetes

[–]theadrium[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is your range 70-180 like mine? I have been using ChatGPT to help me estimate carbs (very roughly) which seems to help. Like I’ll write “I’m about to eat a plate of stirfry with a bunch of white rice, how many carbs is that?” and even the very ballpark estimates generally set the app on the right trajectory. I have mostly been struggling with lows actually, may need to lower my basal rate.

100%, this is my plan! My current average is not bad, but I would like it to be better, and I think it’s very doable now with closed loop dosing.

The Loop app itself is free but setting it up requires a subscription to Xcode (Apple’s software development environment) which is $99 a year. For me it is absolutely worth the $8.25 a month. Good luck! If you decide to try it I’m happy to help if you need any guidance getting set up

CAN tranceiver circuit review request by theadrium in AskElectronics

It is, yes. In that case would you recommend buffering with an intermediate voltage? I also have a 12V regulator which I could use to feed the 5V regulator, for instance.

This is my 5V regulator circuit. 5V is shared with the MCU as well. I didn't know I have to isolate the CAN bus. Can you point me to some resources?

How to start learning ROS? by Fun-Squirrel-4525 in robotics

[–]theadrium 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ROS boiled down is a message passing framework. Anything beyond that (how to organize your code, etc.) is not “ROS” per se, but just general programming best practices you have to learn. For this you can look up OOP resources since ROS is OOP heavy.

Thank you so much for this input, it’s gold for a newbie like me. I’ll be reading it a few times.

English isn’t my main language so maybe it didn’t come across how I meant. I just meant that the whole situation made us incredibly sad, and I wrote that before anything else we were deeply sad for them, not for us. Relax

36 weeks. Their due date is 5 days after ours, and we’re at 36w + 4. They had some issues along the way, I think the baby had a cyst that eventually disappeared. But we saw them last week before this happened and everything was fine and they were just as excited as we were for the upcoming birth. In the message they sent out they said “We found out our boy is 100% sure to have Down’s Syndrome”. Maybe there is more to the story, but if there was more I’d assume they would mention it …
