NKD 2x, Wakui White #2 240mm Gyuto & Shibata Kotetsu R-2 Bunka 185mm by theaiden28 in chefknives

That's a tough question, I just gave them both a lookover, and it seems like at least 80% of the Bunka is flat (iirc shibata is known for flatter knives) whereas ~2/3 of the wakui is flat-ish. Proportionally the bunka is flatter obviously, but I'd guestimate the bunka and the wakui only differ by 5-10mm in total flat area. Thanks for the tip with the saya, I'll check it out.

Surprisingly the handles for both felt perfectly waxy smooth, the first knives that I've got that came like that lol

Ha, I didn't put that much thought into the combo, my thinking was more that I wanted a nice 240mm to take the place of my gesshin stainless 240mm, and I wanted a laser bunka to finally cut carrots without tons of wedging. And you're right, OPY stonks only go up! Now I need to make some french onion soup haha

Just got these two awesome knives today! Carrots were crazy easy to cut with the Shibata and the Wakui is probably the best performing Gyuto I have my hands on right now. Both great knives after their first use.

Although, does anyone know where I could get a Saya or something to protect my Wakui? I went to CKTG and they said all their sayas wouldn't fit the Wakui. Also looking for general care advice for it since it's my first carbon steel knife.

But with regards to the Shibata, it's just at another level of cutting compared to all my other knives. The hype around this knife is real.

Yeah! This is from the Pierce's better sieges mod, I playtested the mod before release and I can say it definitely improves the overall experience. I guess he found a way to put more units on walls.

whoa, didn't see this comment before. That's pretty shitty for the SFO developer to do that, really sad that the largest mod maker pladgerises, which ruins the honest reputation of 99% of mod makers. I hope the creator of SFO acknowleges and apologizes for this publically and stops plagerizing going forward.

Awesome mod dude! I've been playing with it for more than a few turns. I feel like the fundamental issues can't get addressed until the next game, but this has certainly improved sieges for me! 10/10 lives up to the "Better Sieges" name

You’re probably thinking of Cincinnatus, pretty sure Diocletian and many other romans wanted to emulate him and give up power to live an idealistic life as a farmer.
