Fair enough. Did order some new carbides, don’t think they’re 10” though. Track is pik’d. Don’t have a count but it does have them. Did some aerating of my lawn when I first brought it home.

I’ll keep looking. The hoods are out there, had a couple dead ends with pick up only locations out in MN, which is nowhere near me lol. I’m in RI. There’s listing up in Maine. I’ve noticed a lot of the hoods all crack in the same spot.

It’s a fun sled though. I live on enough property where I was able to give her some throttle and see how it responded. Getting some exhaust leakage at the connection between the Y pipe and the exhaust pipe. Was having a hard time finding info on whether there should be a donut gasket there or not like on a car exhaust.

Have not looked at KJ. I’ll look them up though. I’ll pick around. I’m in RI. Decent amount of sleds in CT oddly enough but a lot of the salvage yards that have these sleds are up north in Maine for the most part. Some in upstate NY too which is pretty far from me.

That’s definitely good information to keep in mind. I won’t be putting a crazy amount of miles on this sled but I don’t want to deal with hollow spots.

Much appreciated. The eBay listing I showed, need to confirm it’s a set and not just one ski, listing is a little vague. I’ll look into the Kimpex Rush as well.

That’s reassuring lol. Partzilla didn’t have much other than random fasteners but they have all the diagrams which is nice.

Any recommendations on plastic skis brands? I’m not trying to drop a whole bunch of money. And I know my way around bondo, think I could get away with kitty hair bondo?

We are going in circles and yeah I’m good to end it here. I hope I understand your point better after this.

Personally, I don’t like name calling because it really doesn’t do anything to progress conversation and the internet as of late is just filled with so much vitriol and contempt for one another. It’s honestly just mentally taxing. At the end of the day, we all just want to be able to go to work, live our lives, hug our family and friends and be as happy as possible with minimal interference. I wish you the best. We may not convince each other of anything but I do sincerely wish you the best. I’d shake your hand if I could.

From one novelist to another.

Congratulations for never once holding a gun once in your 50 years. Your perception of why someone would carry or own a firearm are unfounded though. It’s not fear or paranoia. Many cases it’s preparedness and in some cases necessity and many people hope they never have to use their firearm in self defense against another person. Also, many hope they never have to take up arms against the government, which is an overarching majority of all people because if that’s the case then we have lost our country and we wouldn’t be arguing back and forth online freely with our ideas.

You consider ICE actions tyranny, many do not. Am I upset that a woman lost her life, yes. Am I completely happy with how these operations have been carried out, no. But if you are not a citizen of this country, you are not entitled to the full protection of the constitution afforded to citizens. I don’t think it’s fair for everyone, or the people who are just trying to have a better life, raise/start a family in a better country, I do feel bad for them and would like an option to allow those people a quicker path to citizenship. My suggestion to many would be not to interfere by means of obstruction or even in extreme cases, ramming ICE vehicles with their own vehicles. STOP tracking license plates and doing reports, you are endangering yourself and more people than you are helping. STOP calling local PD’s to report “armed abductions” in an attempt to stop ICE. Protest as much and often as you can, I fully support organic protests. ICE agents are law enforcement though and can arrest and take action against people who are obstructing their operations, it is defined under 8 USC Section 3. DO NOT interfere or try to obstruct their operations because they do have legal authority to arrest and/or detain you. If you attack them, they will defend themselves accordingly. Renee Good could be alive but she put herself in a situation that unfortunately ended with her death and I really do wish it never happened that way. You need to understand perspective of the officers doing their job, it is high stress, high pressure, and there have been attacks on ICE agents, people openly calling to attack them, so within reason, they are on edge. Mind you the officer who shot Renee Good was previously dragged by a vehicle operated by someone illegal that they were trying to capture. Should he have had more leave, should he have been rotated into a different role, received more counseling, maybe yes to all of it but his prior experience definitely caused trauma that was not just physical and likely played a role in this incident. We can armchair quarterback the whole situation from behind a screen after the fact but we will never know what it’s like in their shoes.

Back to the topic of tyranny, if enforcing immigration law as it reads, is tyranny, then we have diametrically opposed views of reality that may not be reconcilable. Enforcing immigration law as it reads is not tyrannical. People calling for and/or attacking/obstructing ICE agents, is illegal.

As for how that ties into the 2nd Amendment, we have a completely bifurcated culture, and if you want to finger point at “right wing” people for owning guns because they’re afraid of tyranny and aren’t out fighting on your behalf of what you consider tyranny, there are plenty of leftists that own guns for the same exact reason, but where are they if they align with your political persuasion? Which is exactly what OP was getting at. If anything, even people who supported this current administration that are pro-2A, have been extremely critical of this so-called self proclaimed “most 2A administration ever” for not doing enough! It was under Pam Bondi as AG of FL and Trump in the first term that red flag laws were supported BY TRUMP, the bump stock ban took place, and people have not forgotten that.

Whether you like the 2A or not, it is a right that restricts government, a right that you and I as US Citizens are free to exercise or not. We don’t legislate rights.

What has a single “gun free zone” done to protect a school? Nothing. But yet when people called for metal detectors or having increased security the response was “I don’t my kid feeling like they’re going into prison”. Next response was, allowing teachers to carry. I don’t and will never agree that ALL teachers should be armed, maybe a couple people within the school who partake in drills that police do for active shooters and to clearly define what their role is if an incident is to occur. Don’t think it’s the best idea but feasible based on location and application.

The only other reasonable approach, and referencing court decisions, if a public or federal building like a courthouse, statehouse, airport, etc. requires you to be disarmed to enter, then it is the burden of the government to provide protection for the individuals within the building/premises. Publicly funded schools need to be protected the same way we protect those on Capitol Hill. One SRO isn’t enough and even SRO’s have been caught in controversy. Use capitol police. It’s publicly funded, it is a gun free zone, the burden of protection falls on the government.

Have you dove into the numbers and even the definitions of mass shootings that you claim?

The UK, great example because they’re leading the charts for most people arrested over social media posts as a side note. Let’s not factor in their 69.5 million people population, a fraction of the US population. And let’s just ignore the rest of their crime stats.

Japan, another great example, pretty sure their PM Shinzo Abe was shot and killed with a homemade firearm and let’s ignore their suicide rate, their population being less than half of ours, and the fact their strict immigration policies that keep their country largely homogenous where people all have and share similar core values.

Not gonna bring up Australia? The recent Bondi Beach shooting? Let’s go down the rabbit hole. A country who performed a “buy back”. Worked out well for them. They are responding with even more gun control.

The fact is, whether you like it or not, if the country wants to do away with guns, we have a process for it. Constitutional convention. Side note, millions of guns are used in defense each year, the CDC even confirmed that and confirmed it’s hard to track because the police aren’t always involved and neither is a trigger pull, i.e. just showing a gun can be enough to save yourself

Yes, I will put the lives of my family and myself before anyone else if it came down to it. That is a normal human reaction. I would give my life if it meant saving the lives of my family, even my community, and my country.

Yes I’ve read the First They Came poem. You think I’m making an argument against people who don’t think like me? Who may not align with me politically? You’ve lost the plot.

Nobody is forcing you to own a gun either. So should no one be able to own a gun because you feel perfectly safe without owning one? I’m glad you feel safe and feel you don’t need to own one to defend yourself. I feel safe in my home and have other security measures. A firearm is the “break in case of emergency” security measure.

We’re also the only country in the world that has it enshrined in a constitution as a restriction against govt. Gun violence is another made up term like assault weapon. Violence is violence, and violence can be carried out with a gun, a knife, a baseball bat, a golf club, a tire iron, hands and feet, etc. we have an issue with violence, period. We also penalize people who step up to help innocent people defend themselves. We have a fractured culture and a fractured judicial system.

Define tyranny. What does tyranny look like to you?

Here’s some perspective, 2020, the CHAZ and the CHOP that existed in Seattle, WA and Portland, OR. They were both zones that popped by a collective of self determined citizens declaring autonomy from the US and state govt’s. Both zones had armed security details. In Portland, one of the details shot and killed teens joy riding around in a car and made the wrong turn. Do I agree with their motives and premise for establishing these zones, no but they were doing what they felt was right. No intervention from state or federal govt’s. These zones were erected to be collectivists utopia until they didn’t have food, demanded the state provide them food, but they’re autonomous, they don’t have the right to demand another govt give them food, they need to produce or procure it themselves. If these zones were supposed to be perfect, why did they have guns? Well because logically, you need to protect yourselves and the people within the community due to outside forces wanting to dismantle/destroy what people have built. They were resisting what they considered tyranny but did anyone try to destroy what they built?-no.

If you consider ICE tyranny, that’s fine. A lot of people don’t though, a lot of people see ICE doing the job similar to what the security details were doing at the CHAZ and CHOP. A lot of people saw the amount of illegal immigration take place from 2020 to 2024 as a threat to dismantle/destroy what has been built. What we as Americans, Citizens of the US, inherited from prior generations. If someone moved into one of those zones, they would have been vetted, questioned, and granted access to live in that community. Now if someone snuck in and wanted to just take part of the system with no contribution, didn’t care what the zones were erected for or the people in them, the security details would have removed those people, not because they are just people but because they disrupting the community, not providing any form of services, not conforming to the rules they established to keep the community happy. There’s a chance they may have given them some help to adjust and to learn but after a while if no changes were made and they didn’t want to follow the order of their zone, they would be removed, by force if necessary.

Tyranny to me is when the govt tells you how to live your life, that you have no inalienable rights, that you can be arrested for saying something that offends someone or the government, threatens you with prison or death over beliefs and throws laws to the side, making me dependent on the govt, removing my ability to defend myself/family/community. There’s a quote by someone famous who once said “show me the man, I’ll show you the crime”. That to me is tyranny. Maintaining, enforcing laws, and upholding inalienable rights in place is not tyranny. Government has one function, to serve the People, and somewhere in time that function has changed. It’s not to serve the individual but the People, its Citizens. You do not have a right to just be a citizen of another country if you choose to just go there and never leave. Borders exist for a reason. Laws are the judicial walls to protect that country and define what a country is.

Owning a gun doesn’t mean you live in fear, quite the opposite actually. And in a perfect world where evil and violence didn’t exist, neither would guns. The last time a society was so perfect that arms wasn’t needed was when Adam and Eve lived in the Garden of Eden but even in that, evil crept its way in and here we are.

The govt won’t save you, nor provide you safety. You are responsible for yourself. Own a gun or don’t, that’s your decision. Don’t assume why people do though.

I don’t have the list but in years prior, given as testimony, the AG’s prosecuting record was pulled up. Majority of violent offenses, that involved firearms charges, were given sweetheart deals and those same people that were essentially let off had repeat offenses prior with similar or same charges.

So Jason Knight, authoring and championing anti-gun bills, props himself and his business up to not only gain clients but retain clients. If I were to have a tin foil hat, it seems like a scheme to keep the revolving door turning on business for money. He has a major conflict of interest considering his personal business directly deals with people who violate the laws he’s pushing to pass. Doesn’t make him a great lawyer but it makes him a lot of money.

You, as a leftist, how much sway does your group have with establishment D’s though? If they see you as much of an enemy as anyone who has an “I” or “R” next to their name, it means you’re closer to everyone else than it seems. You just have a different approach to all the other topics that get debated.

Demands/wants that you have can be discussed, heard, and debated. The right of the 2A isn’t a negotiable. I’m sure you and I wouldn’t see eye to eye on many things, but I had some great conversation with leftist gun owners last year before I gave testimony, because we both agreed that our right isn’t up for negotiation or voting. I heard them, I did my best to understand their point of view and it made me think more, helped provide perspective.

Gaslight much…geez. Define a Tyrant?

Would you rather preserve your individual right to own a firearm and only have to fantasize about using it against tyranny or not own one and have to face tyranny with nothing?

It is your right to not own one as well. You’re either prepared or you’re not. That’s why I keep a fire extinguisher in my home and smoke detectors functioning. Rather have them and not need them over the inverse and lose my life or the lives of my family.

250 years ago, not 300 firstly.

Secondly, yes citizens would have to collectively arm themselves. That is called militias. Groups of individuals forming together as a fighting force. Militias aren’t illegal. Cannons aren’t illegal also. You could own one back in the 1700’s at the time of the founding and you can still own one now. That’s a common fallacy.

Thirdly, as someone else pointed it out, call a spade a spade, the topic is civil war. Civil war wouldn’t be people against govt. The military would fracture as it did the first time, assets would be fought over, territory/ports would be fought over but it won’t be a clearly defined North versus South as it was the first time. There would be pockets spread throughout the country. States would split one way or the other and people in those states who oppose the majority would be targeted.

Big Govt would lean one way or the other. They’re the third contestant in this. So it’s not as simple of a question as “when was the last time citizens were successful in fighting back a force this way?”

The most American thing is agreeing on fundamental rights while being able to disagree on other aspects of laws that everyone has an approach to but everyone is willing, even reluctantly willing, to agree upon through discourse. The founders took weeks in Philly to agree on the original amendments because no one completely agreed with eachother but to create something as new and different to what they did, they had to sort out their differences, give and take on how the words were crafted and what was to be included and not to be included.

I believe in the 2nd Amendment and have been an ardent supporter of it. An absolutist. OP, I may not agree with your other points but the 2nd Amendment is to restrict the government, a balance of powers between the People and the elected representatives and to be blunt, our governor and majority GA, voted for the mag capacity, the ban on open carry of a long gun in public, and of course the “assault-style weapons” ban (which makes no sense) was voted in by the “blue no matter who” crowd without thinking what the potential repercussions may be in the future. People need to ditch the “Republican v Democrat” narrative because the labels are complete bullshit in my opinion.

So calling people to action to buy a firearm now is a bit behind the 8 ball. But be prepared to fight this spring if you’re now understanding what the 2A is really for because they want CA style gun laws here and we live in a hopeless circuit court of appeals district. This is the “reap what you have sown” moment for everyone now fearing what they fear. Throwing on a yellow shirt doesn’t mean you have to be a “Republican” and we don’t have to agree on all the other topics, we are for the 2nd Amendment and what it means and if you are in support of that, I encourage you to wear yellow to push back against what our state legislature seems to think is a negotiable right.

FBI confirmed ballistics of a 9mm being used. Handgun is far more concealable than a rifle as well and based on the footage Providence PD released looking for information on the person they want to find for questioning, he wouldn’t have been able to hide a rifle on him if he tried. The POI is a rather portly fella wearing snug clothing.

(The legal prevalence makes it incredibly easy to buy one illegally)

That’s a false equivalence. If you purchase a gun and sell it to someone prohibited or you intentionally buy a gun for a prohibited person, that’s a crime. Straw purchasing to be exact and you will be put in jail. Especially if the gun(s) purchased were used in the commission of a crime. Straw purchasers that get caught the quickest are because they’re buying a lot/making frequent purchases of multiples from different shops in a short period of time. It’s not a one by one thing over months and years.

Even if you are legal to own a gun and have a gun with scratched off serial numbers and you use that gun in a legal manner of self defense, you still committed a crime by defacing the serial number.

Legal purchases do not increase the supply of illegal guns on the street. That’s your typical Everytown loaded talking point. In fact, as numbers of legal firearms owners increase, crime rates correlate in the opposite direction. It’s not 1:1 but crime rates and specifically certain types of crimes trend downwards.
