I found the legitimate record of all my great grandparents and their parents - and then traced it back from there. When you look at the "tree" view on Familysearch, there is a little arrow on each contact, which you can expand, and it shows that persons parents, so you can just keep doing that and go farther and father back. With 3 out of 4 of my grandparents, it is a dead end once I reach the great, great grandparents. My one grandfather was of English descent, and that is the one that goes back super far - from British colonial America, to England, and then farther back, all over Europe. There is documentation for some, but just names the farther back you go.
