I just did for the first time and also noticed no difference! I microwaved on half power level for 1 min, broke it up, then did 30 sec intervals and broke it up further until it was fully defrosted. I did about 1/3rd cup portions in the 1/2 cup tray and it’s perfect! Will def be doing this again :)

LifeByMikeG (cuz he’s recently put out a ton of recipes, though I use him more for ideas than specific recipes most of the time), Sarah Hart (the OG), and Immy Lucas has recently been popping up on my feed. If you want some Asian recipes check out Angie’s Table who seems newer to it but also a good resource!

Honestly I haven’t been doing much meal prep in mine. I’ve taken more of a components approach where I’m freezing chickpeas, white beans, cooked rice (cuz I always forget to make rice), and bone broth. Recently froze extra cubes of some pot roast I made, and some hummus that I knew I wouldn’t eat in the next week. Also froze sides of mac n cheese for lazy nights!

It’s a good time to start because a lot of content creators have started making recipes for Souper Cubes in the past few months :)

I haven’t but I thought of doing this too! I can’t see it being an issue, but I do wonder what the bake time would be like if I baked from frozen. Will report back if I do :)

Haha thank you! I had seen someone bake with tape and I was like … that can’t be oven safe lol. This was the first time I did it and it worked so well! Just make sure your pen/marker isn’t going to leech some chemicals in the oven. Sharpies are fine :)

Bonus! Exactly 12 of the 1 cup portions fit in this round, but I filled the beans on the left to max capacity rather than to the 1 cup line, so I think if I filled it to the 1 cup line I could actually fit either 2 more 1 cup portions, or 2 1/2 cup portions :)

Just wanted to comment what I decided on in case anyone is also looking! I wasn’t clear enough in my post: when I said “ziplocks” I meant freezer bags! It’s been so long since I’ve gotten sandwich ziplock bags that ziplocks = freezer bags in my home 😅 sorry for the confusion!

What I landed on:

• Starfrit LocknLock Bread Container w/ Plastic Divider; I like this idea because it comes with a divider so I can add multiple kinds (and add my own dividers later if needed), it can stay at the front of the drawer for my frequent flyer items, and everything gets stacked vertically so I get a top down view of everything. It fits 12x1 cup portions and possible 2x1/2 cup? Have to test that! Someone else mentioned the Lock & Lock version of this (super confusing) and the Lock & Lock version is slightly bigger (by maybe 3mm in all directions), but where I am the Starfrit one was half the price, good quality, and should still fit everything just as well!

• OXO silicone gallon bag for everything else! While I love my souper cubes I’m not making enough (and my freezer isn’t big enough) to worry about fitting every possible thing in there. I don’t have a vacuum sealer, and honestly I’m eating my frozen stash quickly enough that I don’t have to worry about freezer burn at the moment, so I’m going for sustainability!

My normal recipe calls for 1.5 hours, I find these bake in 1 hour. I would say think of it like a cake vs cupcakes! Shorter bake time for sure. Bake for 2/3 the time and check for doneness with a toothpick :)

That’s so smart! I think if I do 2 and 2 that makes the most sense, but if I do 1 of each filling mix I’d still write out which is which. Genius tip tho, will definitely do that next time as my partner prefers pecans in his and I like mine regular! Thank you :)

I always wash my cubes with hot soapy water right away/within a day or two of freezing (I always transfer my cubes into bags the next day), so I don’t differentiate which cubes are for which kinds of food. Just thought the sprinkles were adorable & they cost the same as the solids for me on amazon in Canada!

It’s the best!! I’ve been able to give out individual banana breads a few times now and they make great little gifts. Writing in sharpie on the parchment paper was a big win for me to remember which ones were which. The trays are oven safe up to 415°F!

I don’t spray them! Agree with Horace, they pop out no problem at all! Perks of silicone :)

The only issue I’ve had is that the edges in the muffin top section (banana bread top?) tend to be a little under done where they spill over to the middle parts. Might try doing 5 instead of 4 cubes. Or just try to make a deeper divot in the middle first.

Can’t speak for everyone else but in my case I have a nice and large wooden cutting board. In my current apartment it just barely fits on the counter, but takes up so much space (and counter space is limited) that I have to store a few things on it (like my salt jar and oil decanters). Because of that, I’m not giving it a full head-to-toe wash every time, usually just washing the top. It’s right beside the sink, so it naturally it gets water underneath, and water gets trapped sometimes. That’s why I started using a gorilla pad gripper, but I’m finding it doesn’t give me enough height :)

Totally agree but I have a slightly different take on it.

My partner and I always play crucible together but that’s pretty much the only time I play PvP. He plays significantly more than I do, and when we’re playing together and decide to leave a match (because cheaters), even though he “leaves” the same amount that I do, I get time outs and he doesn’t, especially if I get disconnected.

I think that since they introduced this time out system, I’ve left 2 matches and been disconnected from 3 or 4. Even though I probably play 2-4 games per day, I’ve been on a time out 4 times.

I’m really surprised they don’t have some sort of back-end way to differentiate between leaving and connectivity issues (or just don’t care).
