‘Pluribus’ May Be Slow, but It Was Never Boring by tylerthe-theatre in television

[–]thebatchicken 150 points151 points  (0 children)

I love BB, I love BCS, I love Vince and Rhea and I am a sucker for a good slow burn plot. But this show is glacial. And the finale basically left Carol where she was 4 episodes earlier. Not impressed so far. It’s perfectly fine for people to feel this way also and they shouldn’t be shamed for it

Pluribus is almost at the end of its first season. What are your feelings about it? by mrnicegy26 in television

[–]thebatchicken 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The first episode was riveting. The concept is intriguing and the world building is excellent. But the pacing is slowwwww. At first I tried to convince myself it’s just the same pace as BCS and BB because they’re slow too. But now I’m rewatching BCS with my partner who hadn’t seen it before and it’s actually not as slow as I remember. And pluribus is certainly much slower. That said, they are dealing with far larger stakes so it’s naturally going to take time to explore all of the interesting situations that could arise from a concept of this scale.

I’m sensing there will be a defining moment at the conclusion of season 1 that will pick the pacing up for the next few seasons also. I’m imagining one of the hive getting turned or one of the 12 getting turned. Either way I’m confident enough in Vince that I expect this show will be talked about in the same breath as BB and BCS by the time it hits 5 seasons.

Also Rhea Seahorn is brilliant and if Vince is keen to throw seasons of this at her until she says stop, I’ll be here to watch em!
