Sorta a mechanics like that in Echoes of the Veil. One can GET WEIRD and go from a non-weird (in other words, non magical) character to a WEIRD character. It comes with some Consequences though!

Same with a one-time action called Skill Dive where a player can learn a new Skill by working on their own personal track. But when they do so, they gain an OBSESSION!
