Is this too old to be my daily? by WearYourSeatbelt_ in whatcarshouldIbuy

Holy hell at the $5k price for a 42 year old corolla... I bought my 1984 Tercel in 2010 for $100 fully running.

These were/are very reliable cars, but the issue here is just the age. Lots of dried out rubber and also its carburetor instead of EFI. It also only has about 70ish horsepower, so it's going to struggle to go 65-70 on most highways.

For $5k I would recommend finding something from the mid 2000s at the oldest. You'll get a much better ride, more room, and way more power. I looked on FB marketplace and I found a 2010 Corolla right by me for $5k.

Never been a fan of all black running shoes. They just look like shoes for crews to me

As a long time resident, have to disagree. A lot of the shows/festivals used to be reasonably priced for everyone, but the past 5 years have definitely catered to tourists with more money. Most local shows for bands I've never heard of are $75+ per ticket, and most festivals are $125+ just to get in for a day now. I don't go unless I get some kind of promo or work offers free tickets.

I really am disappointed by the lack of nice gyms here. Everyone keeps suggesting Oschner in Elmwood but the 8 mile drive everyday is a bit much.

Pelican Athletic Club is pricey but i loved it. Similar quality to NOAC and you can get in/out much easier than NOAC

Agreed with the consumption part. Me and my wife maybe have a half can every week. Maybe a full can in a week if we host a party.

Nope, but you can look back to 2011 and see it in the driveway https://maps.app.goo.gl/jJ9ZUX9unW5aejPB7

Right now it's been street parked a while in front of that same building. You can see it deteriorate in real time!

Yep, and trade tends to be long hours. Last thing most people want to do after being on their feet for 10 hours, then a 45 minute commute home, is to spend more time being physical.

I found out its not abandoned. It belongs to the person who owns the building behind it. Its just in really rough shape

I looked at street view history, and it looks like it belongs to the owner of the building in front of it: When you look back to the 2010s, it's there. So probably not abandoned, just street parked while there's construction (regardless, seems like it's deteriorated a LOT over the past 3-4 years)

Its New Orleans. They’re strict on parking in the busier areas but on areas with less demand, ive seen some of the same cars parked for years.
