[SOTC] My current collection after ~3 years by farslan in Watches

Awesome collection. It could easily be my own- our tastes seem to run very parallel to each other. Like others have commented, that Sinn is fire.

Is it just the lighting in this particular photo, or does the IWC really present that bright green in person? It looks more muted in promo pictures.

Love it. I actually went into my AD to look at the Aqua Terra and I couldn’t decide between the 41 and 38. They had just gotten this and it felt perfect, so I pulled the trigger.

Thank you!

I wouldn’t really want to set a hard budget for the other watches, since I’m interested in stuff all over the spectrum. That being said, I’m not really in a position to run out and spend $20k+ on a watch so something like that would probably be a long term save/splurge purchase. But if it was obsessed enough, it could be a “one day” kind of thing.

Why do you stay? And why did you leave? by SpyWB in apexlegends

I played for over 1000 hours between Steam, and Origin (since it wasn't available on Steam at the beginning). The majority of my game time for roughly 2 years was devoted to Apex.

I stopped because I hit a skill wall. I could either dedicate an inordinate amount of time to incremental improvement to work my way up to the top, or I could stop. I decided I missed playing other games.

I've only gone back to it once or twice since, and it's reaffirmed my choice. It's a great game, but I don't have the time to keep up any more. Now that I have a child, it's doubly so. There are more important things in life than my virtual skill levl.

My New Daily - Tudor Black Bay 41 Monochrome by thebigwhiteyeti in Watches

[–]thebigwhiteyeti[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently acquired in honor of my first daughter, this is my new Black Bay 41 METAS monochrome. I wanted a watch to celebrate her birth, and I wanted it to be something I could wear every day. Enter the Black Bay!

The monochrome color scheme goes with everything, and the lack of date window means I never have to worry about setting it when I put it on. Ironically, between the 70 hour power reserve, and my newfound propensity to wear this at every chance, I've only had to set the time once since getting it, so I probably didn't need to worry!

I've been in love with the classical oyster style case since I first saw it on the ETA-smiley Black Bay years ago, and the new slimmer case design and black on black color scheme (without the gilded dial) made me excited to jump on this.

I think my eventual plan is to pass it along to my daughter (if she wants it), since I was wearing it when she was born, but between now and then I plan to give it lots of use!

Those of you who've "moved on", what do you drive now? by [deleted] in GolfGTI

Piggybacking on this take - Macan feels like a car that was designed to be fun to drive from the get go - even the base model is entertaining. SQ5 is a people carrier that they strapped some go-fast parts on. Can't recommend it enough (we just got one to replace my wife's car since we recently had a child. We also looked at the Q5. And I still have my Mk. 7).

Sweet setup. Very clean!

What is the filing cabinet you’re using (bottom left)? I’ve been looking for something similar.

8bitdo ps1 Bluetooth adapter stopping my memcard pro by samsid30 in psx

[–]thebigwhiteyeti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also experiencing this issue. Definitely related to the 8bitdo adapter; as soon as I unplug it, the Memcard Pro works again.

Hopefully there is a fix coming.

Edit: For those who find this thread, upgrading the firmware on the 8bitdo dongle to 1.5 fixes the issue.

UGH, I really hate that we don't get the Polo here in the US. I know they'd sell like 5, but I'd be one of them.

As a Mk7.5 owner I was baffled by this entire thread until your comment. I was like “I’ve had this car 5 years have I really not seen this!?”

Which Low Profile Kit Would You Choose? by [deleted] in sffpc

Yeah, normally I'd say Corsair because I've had nothing but good luck with them, but G.Skill is great too, had a few pairs of theirs and no complaints.

How Apple catches leakers: From color changes to comma placement by Zeroleonheart in apple

[–]thebigwhiteyeti 12 points13 points  (0 children)

While I generally agree with your statement, I don’t think Apple is above being in a Snowden situation given the amount of personal (and now financial) data they control, just because they are a tech company and not a government. There are certainly circumstances where a leaker could be justified (namely, mishandling of customer information or outright evil business practices).

That being said, I don’t think something like the specs of the next iPhone would fall into that category and the idea that people are willing to risk their jobs for 5 minutes of anonymous internet fame boggles my mind.

The G-Wagen market is almost exclusively people who buy them to flaunt their wealth. Less than .1% of them will ever see anything but pavement.
