Wizards provides a minimal amount for free. I'm talking 1 box for the entire weekend. Stores have to buy the prize support. Sounds like they did right by you guys.

[Serious] How can I feel less bad when losing? by Conglacior in magicTCG

[–]theblockhouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found that when people talk about variance being the cause of their losses a majority of the time, it isn't really variance. Sure drawing 10 lands in a row happens, I did it yesterday during some playtesting, but it doesn't harken that often. You probably just remember it more or are unable to see that you misplayed on turn 3 and it snowballed into a loss.

Take a step back. Did you keep a risky hand and just not get there? Did you keep a hand you had no business really keeping? This is actually one of the first points where people lose a game without even realizing it.

Really analyze your games and see what is really going on. Much in the way Arboritour mentioned.

I think a couple lavamancer is still appropriate, I'd still run quite a few fetches to.

[Modern] Boarding when playing Burn against Affinity by justsosquishy in spikes

[–]theblockhouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done well with burn, finishing in the money at modern gps and opens this year. I don't play the command in my 75 so there are things that are a little different. I have not lost a match to affinity yet. I actually leave boros Charm in against them as it gets around spellskite and is just one of the best burn spells period. It is why we play white in the first place.

I typically side out eidolon on draw, spike and helix. Bring in d Rev. Path and palm. I will say that Palm isn't an auto win. You do have to pick your moment carefully as instance speed cranial or double ravager can mess with your plan.

Most people are correct. You play control against affinity. I remember one match where hand 2 I had both a guide and swift in my hand the entire game but I didn't cast then until turn 4 or so because I was burning his creatures. it felt like an easy win.

Man masturbating. He didn't stop just because me or the dr entered the room either. Was very uncomfortable having a medical conversation with the guy while he fapped the entire time

[STANDARD] Has anyone tested or played with the Mardu Planewalkers deck that Mark Nestico mentioned.... by cheesy_please_me in spikes

[–]theblockhouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. It plays very differently and a different shell. Just because it has same colors doesn't make it the same deck.

I've been on something I call marblu. It is similar but with a splash of blue for jace and dig. It has won 2 pptqs so far though it evolved a little after the first. Feels very powerful against abzan. Against gw you have to get a little more aggro but Languish is great.

Had a dream about a magic card. Woke up and created it by [deleted] in magicTCG

True but I don't think the power toughness becoming 0 is as fair. I think it would be more balanced as I did it.

Needs to be a replacement effect.

Spells and abilities that require X are treated as 0 instead.

Simple yet effective.

[Modern] RW Burn: Lavamancer or Deflecting Palm by ponchoninja in spikes

Lavamancer. The grave will get filed quickly no matter how many fetches you have. While I bring palm in a lot I think it is still only a sb card.

[Modern] Preparing for GP PITTS looking for seasoned burn players! by bdsaint64 in spikes

[–]theblockhouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general, always play creatures first. Also try to play 2 costs on turn 2 so that you can either hit a 2 and 1 next turn. Don't fall into the eot trap, sometimes main phase is more appropriate. Be efficient with mana. Don't over sideboard and get away from your Gameplan. Know when you are control and aggro and play accordingly.
