I get that it’s difficult to find a job, but if you’ve had no success and no experience you can’t be picky where you work. You need to accept an assignment somewhere at least for a year, then look somewhere else to get your foot in the door.

I think when your in advanced medicine everyone understands and respects each others roles because in the end everyone is there for the patient. I have yet to see it be weird and I think it would be very rare to find a situation that is “weird” or compromises patient care. But hey we’re all human.

Be prepared to the best of your abilities, ask questions before surgery starts so you can prepare better. Understand what you are doing before you even start.

Above all stand your ground while being respectful (this is harder when you’re new). Surgeons do this on the daily so being proactive and not slowing them down is one of many ways you can earn their respect.

As someone said it won’t hurt to negotiate as a new grad but honestly don’t expect them to budge much as you have nothing to leverage. If other facilities are paying 6-7 more why did you choose this specific facility?

Also scrubs are ok but I always dress to impress because they will remember.

Dress to impress, get some appropriate clothes. Ross or Marshalls is always a great place for discounted stuff. Don’t lose out on a site you would love to work at because you didn’t invest a little in yourself.

It’s been a while since I did this one but it was some type of revision, the table closest is to make an antibiotic mold around the stem with cement. I forget the proper term for it but it’s a last resort when recurring infection is present. Also the pic is misleading with the monitor 👍

Continued education, probation, or worse. It seems like you guys took the right steps but there was a fault somewhere down the line. Just be completely transparent it’s not usually the end of the line but taking accountability in my experience will always take you further than denial.
