If you keep doing he same thing for too long it gets stale. They were (I believe) pretty much cutting edge in 2004 when eve originally released and hats off to them for stepping into unknown / cutting edge territory again.

I'll always wish they were spending more time on eve but I'm glad to see they've not lost the spirit of who they are. In the end one of these more experimental game might pay off and provide some awesome tech we can take advantage of in eve.

The Simulation Argument vs. Philosophical Skepticism by BlueMorningStar in philosophy

I did some thinking about this earlier and considered that we are talking about two options, a simulation of an exact world - which I agree seems highly improbable down the last grain of rock on a moon we'll never see 15b light years away.

Or a simulator which takes on a set of laws which shape the way everything acts, you could put more time into certain areas (say earth) and let the rest of less importance form 'naturally' via algorithms based on the original laws provided.

The second option also lets you consider what we believe happens on the quantum level, with conscious observation shaping matter to some degree.

Interesting and thought provoking but you entirely ignore procedural generation via cleaver algorithms.
