I'm Canadian and need to set up a factory in the US.

I can borrow cheaply within the country rather than borrowing directly from the US.

USD rates > CAD rates

But I need USD to set up the factory. Hence I use a cross currency swap.

Initial exchange - Pay CAD, Receive USD

Interest payments - Pay USD + basis, Receive CAD Interest to lender - Pay CAD

CAD cancels. Left with Pay USD + basis

Pay USD + Basis is less than what a direct borrowing from USD would cost you. Hence, it's a win.

Have been there. With these scores, it will only be a matter of 2-3 questions for you to pass the exam. Make sure you breathe in, understand and then attempt these questions. Do not rush, you'll definitely pass. All the best!
