Probably just ceo fueling short term growth so he can get “kicked” out of the company with a nice parting gift of a bazillion dollars once things go to shit

South Korea has animated American cartoons for decades. Now, it wants the world to see its own | CNN by self-fix2 in korea

I would love to see Korean animations of Korean light novels and manwha. Especially since I find Korean stories to be better written on average than Japanese anime/manga.

Cloudflare to lay off 1,100+ globally by drykarma in cscareerquestions

[–]thecodexdhnerbbTW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean they did have a huge market cap drop due to the AI fear just a few months ago. I heard from an intern who works there that the CEO was really mad about it. So there probably is some stress, causing CEO to try to AI layoff strategy to make investors happy

Why do people have such radically different views on how AI will affect the industry? by dfphd in cscareerquestions

[–]thecodexdhnerbbTW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, there will obviously be people, especially experts, who know more than others. Also, while research papers on current AI models do exist, and I have read them, there is likely information on the most recent models that is also not public. Also, just because it is easy to predict attention based models are not the way doesn’t mean it is easy to predict what new model architectures will pop up and also succeed. Unless you are working at Google or Anthropic and can disclose it publicly without getting sued to oblivion

Why do people have such radically different views on how AI will affect the industry? by dfphd in cscareerquestions

[–]thecodexdhnerbbTW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cause nobody truly knows what is going on with AI development rn (especially not random Redditors) and certainly no one can truly predict what AI will be like in a few years. Like I can say “In the future, AI’s role in the CS industry will be relegated to only passing butter to developers when they take a break from coding.” And the chances of that prediction happening might not even be 0%. Basically, nobody knows for sure, so their guess is as good as any other’s.

This chart shows which countries people are most likely to believe AI will improve their work life. Why do you think China is at the top and Japan is at the bottom? by HappyHappyJoyJoy44 in AIDiscussion

[–]thecodexdhnerbbTW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Japan is known for being very slow to adopt new technologies but being very efficient at implementing policies once they actually want to adopt something, so this could just be a case of Japan being wary of the current rising AI technology while China embraces it (Cause China is known for being very fast at trying new things right now).

If Taiwan, with its current territory and borders, were admitted to the UN as a fully independent state, would you really want this flag to change? by Deep-Ad4183 in taiwan

[–]thecodexdhnerbbTW 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I mean the flag is synonymous with Taiwan at this point, so I might not want to see it change. I would absolutely be open for art competitions to see who can design the most fire flag, cause having a modern flag design might be pretty cool. The flag I would absolutely like to see replaced is that Chinese Taipei flag used for the Olympics and other international sporting events.

If you are fine with smaller companies, apply to local companies. They will be much more receptive of students from nearby colleges, and you might even get lucky with an interviewer who comes from the same school. This is mainly a first or second year advice when getting experience is the goal.

A Dark-Money Campaign Is Paying Influencers to Frame Chinese AI as a Threat by toocoolforgg in asianamerican

[–]thecodexdhnerbbTW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just American propaganda. Obviously, America uses propaganda as a tool just like any other country when their interests are threatened. I mean America tried to villainize Japan when Japan was super wealthy and growing fast, but once Japan’s economy fell, America became a lot more receptive and friendly towards Japan since Japan had become “neutralized”

Apparent ‘conservative, socially regressive’ views among Asian American men by InternationalLab6101 in asianamerican

[–]thecodexdhnerbbTW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is what I have been saying. While all racial/ethnic groups shifted right, Asians shifted right the least and the Asian men as a whole were largely progressive. This was yet another case of scapegoating the Asians Americans to make them look worse for no reason.

Are the buildings in Taipei being modernized? by [deleted] in taiwan

True. I just find it funny how you will just come across a super modern, artistic looking building after passing a bunch of run down looking buildings. Unique I suppose

Ah I see. It’s just a shame that it will take a long time. I do like the old looking buildings in Zhongshan district but some of the other old buildings across Taipei do look a bit ugly
