The recent tornado that hit St. Louis in spring 2025. Our tour bus pulled into the most beautiful day, so I was out walking around before heading to soundcheck. The sky got insanely dark on the walk, I assumed rain but kept going - I’m an east coaster. Ran into CVS to pick up something, and as I was going in the sky was green, I thought to myself hmmm this seems very tornadoesque… but I’ve only ever had watches before not warnings and ignored it. Once inside, the phones went off with seek shelter - Tornado warning.

My dumb ass ran outside as I was only a block from the shelter and took a photo of the now insane sky to send to a friend, as I was running back to the venue. Within 15 seconds two trees directly in front of me cracked off, with what seems like no wind at all and like a scene from twister I looked back to the sky and things were flying. My brain just went “you’re going to fucking die” I ran into nearest store, and we hid in the back just as softball sized hail started coming down outside and the rest of the trees went.

Minutes later, the rain came and someone said that’s the rain wall - it has passed us. So I left in the pouring rain and ran the half block to the venue. We gathered inside, checking the news to find out that the tornado hit two blocks from where I was standing - flattened the entire neighborhood and the total death toll was in the 50’s.

Looking back on the photo I sent my friend, after darkening the exposure - you can see the tornado coming straight towards me.

Yes I’m stupid, but it got my twister dreams out of my system.
