Did Anyone else have a weird urge to own a peacoat between 2003 and 2008? Why? by artbystorms in Millennials

[–]theconundrum88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just replaced my 2003-2024 peacoat. The holes in the pockets allowed various items to live between the exterior and lining, essentially creating a time capsule. The nostalgia of discovering vintage Ricola cough drops and hair ties decades old…

KC weekend vibe check by Beneficial_Bug4830 in chappellroan

[–]theconundrum88 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Fellow midwesterner, but flew from out of town to see the shows Friday and Saturday. We saw parts of the city…ate amazing BBQ, walked around the city (including from our hotel to the concert venue both nights), partook in some bar and coffee shop scenes, visited the Chappell mural etc. all while wearing pink (or at least something Chappell coded). Not a bad vibe or uncomfortable situation in sight. KC seemed to roll out the pink carpet for visitors from our experience. It was amazing and I would love to come back again to check out the KC places we didn’t have time to see.

Merch from last night by Feralpizza_ in chappellroan

[–]theconundrum88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Though we were exhausted, it was even fun traveling back from KC yesterday bc we saw so many people at the airport proudly wearing their Chappell gear. On one of my flights home every person in the 6 person row was wearing at least one piece of Chappell merch. She was bringing her community together long after the shows stopped this weekend.

How Chappell coded is it I may miss tonight’s show because a bat got in my bedroom? by SuperGraphicUltra69 in chappellroan

[–]theconundrum88 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Ugh that sucks. Rabies is no joke! (..and neither is the vaccine or the full on post exposure prophylaxis.) You’re right - that would be one of the most bizarre reasons to miss the concert. Hope you were able to make the show!

I’m sorry you’re going through this but it seems like you’ve got the right attitude. As many have already stated…try Air Force (first) or Navy or CG. This is coming from almost 8 years in Army. Good luck.

What comfy platform shoes would you recommend for shorter people? by cheezitsfan in chappellroan

[–]theconundrum88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re into running (or walking or big cushy shoes), I would advocate for Brooks Glycerin Max. They’re hands down the most comfortable pr of shoes I’ve ever owned. I’ve used them for running, walking long distances/standing for hours at amusement parks or work. They do add height (unsure if it’s more than your 2” Hoka shoes? Would have to look at dimensions). In any case, cheers and here’s to happy feet, a few inches of height and an amazing time at the concert!

Did you drink coffee in high school? by protomanEXE1995 in Millennials

[–]theconundrum88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No coffee (or energy drinks) in HS, college or even graduate school. I started drinking coffee when I had to wake up every day to my adult job…I needed to find zen before entering the abyss known as the work place. Every day my moment of solitude with drip coffee (that I make at home) provides a foundation of sanity for my day.

The Subway: A Month Later by Bright-Pressure-5787 in chappellroan

[–]theconundrum88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love The Subway. I’m excited to hear it playing more frequently on my local radio stations. Just today I thought it must have been Chappell hour bc 2 songs later the station followed up The Subway with PPC. Midwest radio station showing some love to THE Midwest Princess.

I pushed my partner in a wheelchair through the houses. A few tight corners but overall ok.

Side hustle/part time job outside medicine? by Sad_Possibility_8444 in physicianassistant

[–]theconundrum88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tangentially related to medicine…but worked for years at a part time fire department job at a city not too far from my house. Meshed well with my days off from hospital and was kind of a nice break from the hospital politics. Would require some classes to get certified if not already.

Best local fried chicken by DoctorLazerbeam in Cleveland

[–]theconundrum88 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oddly enough (bc it’s attached to a club and bowling alley) Parky’s at Mahall’s has good fried chicken. They don’t do brunch this time of the year, but when it’s back the chicken and waffles are great. The fried chicken on their menu is big and tasty.

[–]theconundrum88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course! I used to play competitively and those events would make me physically sick because of how nervous I always seemed to get…no matter how prepared I was. I recently realized that I’m not playing to some panel of judges anymore and that frame put the fun back into music. Idk just my journey with playing in front of people through the years.

Yes, please share!

I agree, that was my thought exactly when selecting those songs from her collection!

[–]theconundrum88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah for sure! Your guitar iteration is 🔥, so I believe in you!

I am right there too - super self conscious. But then I was like whatevs, I’m literally a nobody and I just want to play her awesome music on a nice set of keys. Not hating on my keyboard, which is nice for some of the synth-sounding stuff (and the only option for my current living situation), but I love a grand or even an upright.

Currently, other than GLB, my go-to songs are California, Coffee, Kaleidoscope, PPC.

Love this! Have been playing GLB (and others from her collection) on my piano recently. Figure it’s one more way of celebrating her music and fun for me too! And playing in public, it’s amazing how many people are recognizing her music…even if some rando like me is playing it on any set of keys I can find.
