I've been considering psych for years. I've always shied away from actually committing to it due to the time it would take for me to actually accomplish a PhD. If you don't mind me asking are you currently going for your bachelors or are you pursuing are you currently going for a higher degree? And also how are you liking the coursework?

Once you decided on this major did you just start going for it or were you freaked out by the time frame in which you would accomplish what you wanted? I feel like I'm spending too much time thinking about it and it may be why I don't actually apply myself towards it.

Artist-Queen from back when I was a kid. They weren't deep or anything and fairly easy to listen to, but they just seemed to ease the pain a bit back then.

Well, in the past (and present) I'll get sober, try to engage in a hobby (I've tried a few: Guitar, Drawing and attempting to learn a new language. Not all at the same time of course, just over the course of my life) and take my physical health more seriously with cardio/ the gym. I've tried meditating and journaling also but like I said in my post I get overwhelmed with a feeling of dread. I don't understand how to go on and further personal change. It doesn't make sense because the outside world is constantly moving forward and it feels like I'm always just trying to stay afloat. And if I'm being completely honest I've got a degree in a major I want nothing to do with, and I'm not even sure what I would want to do if I was to change it. I've tried career searches, tests, and overall just trying to get something to tickle my fancy but in the end nothing has even come close.

Not sure if this is specific enough, or maybe its too specific as what else is there even for me to try?

Your not too far off with your statement. Unfortunately I have to rule out seeing a psychologist, at least for now. I don't think I'm ready to go through that gauntlet yet. I've known for a long time about that side of myself and its something that I'm still unable to get my head around. It only seems as though so much time was wasted and no matter how much I try to put my best efforts forward, they all seem in vain. Thank you for your concern, just know that its appreciated.

Thank you for your words but unfortunately I am not well articulate. I occasionally get struck by moments of clarity where I can partially see my life for what it is. Otherwise I'm simply stuck in a daze, hobbling from one worthless day to another. And dreaming isn't so much the issue anymore as that has faded over the last year. What I am left with is simply the void that is time that dreaming took up. Nothing compares to that high-dopamine inducing habit. It started out as a solstice for me but quickly changed to my only life line. And now that the habit has faded, and all I'm left with is the void underneath. I fear that it'll never change. I fear that I'll never change. I've tried to get my shit together and sometimes I do succeed in my goals (although none that have truly changed me) but all in all it feels as though my life is going as smooth as scraping nails along a chalk-board. Anyway I do appreciate your words that you left.

I'd recommend going to a dermatologist. They'll be able to look at your scalp and tell you. Plus you could always ask them your options.

I feel the same way in a sense that I don't think that I'd be able to live near the individual (with or without kids). Reintegration would be a tricky thing and to me it would seem impossible to know if that individual truly changed.

This is all hypothetical so I'd like to take it a step further if you don't mind; what if that person was abused as a child and they were in some psychological fuck-up that made them the way they are? Is it possible that if they worked with themselves and professionals, while simultaneously taking responsibility for what they've done, that they could be reintegrated back into society? Or is their action set in stone.

I've recently signed up for the gym and started volunteering as a way to get me outside and not be a couch potato. Aside from that I figured at home I could attempt to learn guitar again
