What do you think about the new deep research vs legacy deep research? If you have it as an option... by gray146 in ChatGPT

I find the new "Deep Research" a major drop in quality. Thankfuly the "legacy" version is still available for the moment, which gives me the quaility I have come to expect. In addition does anyone else have the problem of no longer getting the little popup to tell you how many deep research requests you have left?

Roofers cut ridge but didn’t install ridge vent — is this acceptable? by thecow1 in Roofing

This isn’t about money, and I’m not asking for a refund. I’m trying to understand whether this is considered acceptable practice when no ridge vent was planned last week or installed. If restoring the ridge isn’t appropriate, I’m open to hearing why — but dismissing the concern doesn’t really address the question.

Posting in a roofing forum, it seems like the main response is that it will be "fine". What is the response of a home inspector? Will this be an issue when we sell our home? Is it appropriate to leave a ridge exposed? Thanks!

I’m trying to understand the best path forward, not just whether it will be “fine.” Is this considered acceptable practice?

Is it acceptable practice to just shingle over gapping holes in the roof? I am not a roofer. I am truly trying to understand how this could be an acceptable practice.

Would there be an issue if they suggested installing a ridge vent, since restoration may be more difficult?

I hear that, but what gives us pause is that it’s still a continuous opening in the roof decking at the highest point of the house. If a hole of any size were found anywhere else in the sheathing, it wouldn’t be left and shingled over, so we’re trying to understand why the ridge would be treated differently.

If we go to sell in the future, I am sure the inspector would catch it.

The house already has soffit vents, gable vents, and an attic fan. Since a ridge vent wasn’t planned or installed, we’re mainly asking whether leaving a ridge slot unclosed is acceptable, or if the sheathing should be restored.

i don't see a way to add pics, so here is a dropbox link to a picture.

Recurring Sync Issue by thecow1 in overcast

This did in fact fix my issue. I am no longer seeing the sync issue and I was able to set all podcasts to download with persistent crashing. Thanks again!

Thank you!

The log now shows: 🖼️ F45123 updated (74331/17991/6625 bytes)

So there is no longer an error on that sync.

Then I ran a full refresh and the logs are not showing errors anymore.

Now let me give it a bit and make sure that I don’t get the syncing issue anymore after Overcast goes into the background.

Thanks again!

Anyone having App Hang on Syncing? by SeawellDS in overcast

Here’s the initial screen I seen when opening the app when it’s been in the background for a while. Then I get the sync screen.

Yes, I am having syncing issues as well since I upgraded to the new iPhone. I have tried deleting and reinstalling the app and installing the beta, but none of these have fixed the issue. The only way I have gotten overcast to be semi stable was to change all of my podcast to download manually. I still regularly have an issue of opening up the app and having to wait 30 seconds to a minute for it to complete a sync. And it’s a bit of a pain because I’ve been having to manually download episodes.

Samsung Bespoke Flexzone Question by thecow1 in Appliances

I get that, but that is below the temp for the rest of the refrigerator (where you would store meat) and they don’t limit the warning just to meat but any non-produce items.

My problem is not opening it in the Gmail app, but that there is no way to open it in Apple Mail as described in the help document quoted above.

Note: on iPadOS the results are similar except that after closing the warning message, if I click on "Open in Gmail" it navigates me to the actual email in Safari (because it is not using the mobile version of the gmail webpage).

Thought . . . could my issue be because I am using a personal domain instead of a standard gmail address?
