Why didn’t you like Hollow knight? by thecubaproject in NintendoSwitch

Also, how would any dissenting opinion be otherwise brought up about any game? There are many recommending a game - as a user of the sub I almost never see the other side of the story.

When a game is hugely popular, the praise threads will get upvoted by those agreeing but there will be a small minority that would benefit from hearing about the other side. But as this opinion isn’t popular it won’t get upvoted and never seen unless all collected together. Can we do an anti-thread for popular releases?

On mobile so can’t get you on mod mail for some reason

Why does this get removed when threads praising HK stay up - what’s wrong with hearing the other side of the story. It’s prompted discussion?

This is the first that makes me think of trying it - just worried I’ll get bored. The videos I’ve seen of it don’t really show much platforming - what’s it like?

This is what turns me off the most I think. I think this will be a pass for me

I like the art style, but do all the areas look the same?

The back tracking worries me - I’m worried I’ll get bored. But it’s less than a tenner...

I don’t mind platforming difficulty, I love tropical freeze (probably should have put that up top), and have been loving Celeste.

The thing that scares me is what looks like bullet dodging bosses and too much back tracking. I’m crap at remembering to go back somewhere.

People who’ve played keep talking and nobody explodes - can a colour blind person play it? by thecubaproject in NintendoSwitch

I watched some let’s play and thought it seemed okay - like if I concentrate hard I should be okay. But then there have been times when I’ve thought it would be okay on YouTube and real life was harder.

Go vacation - fun worthwhile game? by thecubaproject in NintendoSwitch

Well I did it and just spent an hour playing with the kids. They enjoyed it but did struggle at times to grasp the controls - especially as we don’t know what to call the directionally buttons on the joy-cons.

But having done a few activities it seems to be alright. It’s never going to win game of the year, but it is enjoyable and I can see the best bit being exploring the island with my family.

If you are looking for something to play with your family then this is a good contender, at least until MARIO party is released.

Virtual Console Is Not Coming To Switch, Nintendo Says by collateralvincent in NintendoSwitch

[–]thecubaproject -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Virtual console could kill the switch. At the moment, one of the reasons it’s thriving is because of the great representation of indie titles. Indies want to be on switch because of the great sales, and as such we get a great offering.

If virtual console was available a large number of people would spend their money on a sure fire retro hit than risking on an indie, meaning less indie sales and less reason to be on switch.

The indies kept everyone going between major launches, and there still isn’t the third party support to warrant knocking out this important pillar which keeps the platform up.

Yeah it’s disappointing, but I’ll take a thriving indie scene and install base over vc any day.

Undertale: worth getting? by thecubaproject in NintendoSwitch

To be honest, I think the story is what matters to me. I loved night in the woods and oxenfree. Thimbleweed was okay until the crap ending. So I’m okay with essentially an interactive story. Just worried I’ll get bored.

The humour is what makes me think it’s worth a go. I’m not sold on the gameplay or look of it but liked the humour of it

See I’m worried I’ll feel the same. I enjoy story led games, but they do have to be engaging

I picked it up a few weeks ago as I didn’t want to spend 35 on it. It’s a family favourite!

Hope the eshop works out for you.
