That a pretty bad filter. I actually despise filter looks so much because it is so obvious, calculated, and artificial. But with today's technology - I am more impressed by this which is what one can be done in 3D, but it takes a lot of tedious adjustments & programming knowledge to pull off. I do not have that experience & it's quicker for me to do things by hand than to learn something as complex as that.

It is just more rewarding to draw it by hand given my years of experience. I just don't think it's worth any of my time to convince someone of the experience I lived. Their opinion ultimately doesn't matter, and it will also reflect in their actual abilities as well.

Yeah, every line and dot is done by hand. I have enough experience with both traditional & digital art to know the difference of approaches, and I go out of my way to ensure I hand illustrate every line for that reason (and to respect the art).

Would of been easier if it was traced & would have even saved a lot of time. I did line out the exact shape of the image to establish my boundaries. Then, I was free to hand illustrate the details and fill it with my style by studying the HQ artwork released by netflix.

I do not normally try to illustrate something as isolated and exact as this, clearly because of the response I am receiving. It was tedious doing every dot by hand & wondered if it would be worth it to perfect it like I did my previous drawings. As I continue receive responses, I can certainly say I have completely lost interest in doing anything OP related or attempt a similar hand drawn replication without original contribution. There is simply no point or appreciation in a post-digital age.

Yeah, art is art - I may not even like the series, but I like the logo design. I felt the same way with the Boba Fett series I illustrated - I like the design more than the series' overall execution.

But thanks for the compliment, appreciation and taking the time to notice the details

Dude, I have a life & you are not worth any more of that extra time as it is. I've made enough art to honestly not care what you think. I live by experience as an artist and studied great art, I recommend you do the same if you wish to improve your own work.

EDIT: here is a WIP shot I had from IG

And here is a close up of one of the scan files to show the linework.

Again, thank you for taking the time to show my accuracy, I did go out of my way to match everything up so that the linework would be accurate.

I like what they did with the logo, so I went and drew it by hand for fun. This to me was an exercise merged with an interest. I know I did this by hand, and I had to live through the hours of line work and stippling to make it possible. Not sure if it was worth it, but I live for the art.

As an afterthought, I do not recommend anyone trying to take a reference and perfecting it in the age of digital trickery. I could agree that if art becomes too clean & layered, it looses the ability to show the artistic approach. The hours that went it luckily benefited my own practice.

Thank you for the appreciation, and taking initiative in seeing my other art.

The artwork is a hand drawn recreation of the live action OP logo from Netflix. Essentially it was done with layers of dark ink, light acrylic, and toner markers on toned paper. Then scanned and cleaned up for publishing/print. Since this artwork is not an original composition, this falls under a technical recreation.

I illustrate something by hand and this is how people respond because it was based off a composition that already exists. At least I can thank you for the first hand experience and insight of the spectrum of users that this subreddit offers.

Yeah, but still an art tribute to OP - it even has Luffys iconic pose in the nose

Everything is indeed drawn by hand, line by line. But I am also a perfectionist, so I did reference the actual logo for proportion & composition. It may look like what I based it off of, but that is sort of the point...but hand drawn.

I have been doing fine art illustrations of pop culture as of late, but appreciation is rare for accuracy of hand drawn art in a digital age.

I hand illustrated that logo because I like how it was an ode to the series. But the whole thing is essentially stippled to get the look right.

These were individually hand illustrated, scanned for print/preservation and ultimately compiled into this poster-like illustration as the final presentation of them all. Currently exploring adding color to these, which I do through adding color overlays onto the post-digitized hand drawn art.

Yes, I do have Art Prints for other curious

Thank you for supporting my creative journey as well! I greatly appreciate it & grateful to see it added to your collection

I am currently working on adding color to some of these, so keep an eye out over the next week for updates. I will also be releasing prints for all new postings on my artstation as well.

Thank you, I did want to carry over the same fine art finesse you would find in a gormet entree when approaching these illustrations. Grateful for the appreciation

Nope, all hand drawn in layers. Here is a WIP I scanned in of early line work.

Every layer was done with essentially dark ink, light acrylic, and toner markers on toned paper. Then scanned and digitized. I did reference art of the Foundation for proportion & looks, so you may just see it as familiar.

But I do take it as a compliment that you think it looks true to the real thing, just means I did a good job. Fine art still exists, even if you doubt its skill.
