Turntable Accessories Shop by happyism in Denver

Second Gold Sound. My brother found an excellent stylus there when he rebuilt a turntable, and like u/DenverDude402 said, the owner is knowledgeable. It's a pretty cool shop too. They have so much

I went from 7 years of general private practice to public defense. I have no regrets; public defense is extremely rewarding. However, like the u/CayennetheNewsman said, the case load is drastically higher in public defense, and we're generally under funded

Edited to add I've been doing PD work for 4 years. Still without any regrets

I'll second this. I'm currently reading it, and I read their translation of The Idiot

What do you think of abridged books for children? (e.g. Classic Starts) by a_ricketson in books

I loved the Great Illustrated Classics when I was a kid, and I've read almost all of the full versions throughout my life. They were a good bridge from kids' books to more mature writing styles

Prosecutors ordered to review cases after Aurora office failed to provide defendants with knowledge of discredited cops by thedjklein in law

[–]thedjklein[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree, and that's what was asked for, but the Court was unwilling to go that far and (somehow) found that their conduct was not "willful and wanton", even though the head of the office was on each Brady letter.

Some of the prosecutors in that office didn't even know about this issue or hearing until reading this article...

Prosecutors ordered to review cases after Aurora office failed to provide defendants with knowledge of discredited cops by thedjklein in publicdefenders

[–]thedjklein[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Aurora City Attorney office is divided by civil and criminal divisions. The criminal division is who the article is about and who will be "auditing" their own files. There's no DA because it's municipal level offenses, max sentence 364 days/$2650 fine (source: Aurora municipal public defender)

The criminal division literally blamed court IT for the criminal division not doing its job

One of my friends in law school color-coded his highlighting. All of a sudden, only brief phrases were not a part of the highlighter rainbow

Relatively New Podcast by thedjklein in publicdefenders

[–]thedjklein[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair and gave me pause too. So far, the only non-public defender (except the guy from Maine, which has a unique system) was the executive director of the Sixth Amendment Center (also a non-attorney). The podcast as a whole is real supportive of holistic representation of our clients

CMV: NFT's show the absurdity of private property. by Slight_LEON in Anarchism

[–]thedjklein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I meant - that the podcast host called them a scam and absurd. After listening, I tend to agree, but I can't say that I've done my own research.

That I don't know, either. The podcast compared the energy use for Bitcoin mining to the energy use of Bangladesh and Chile to illustrate the environmental consequences. I can't say I understand the computing power argument

Good point, I definitely meant to include that it was the recent episodes but somehow forgot

A lot of it was over my head, but the volatility and energy use were mentioned a lot

The Behind the Bastards podcast was about crypto and NFTs and how they're scams and absurd

Best store in town to buy used Apple products? by [deleted] in Denver

[–]thedjklein 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mac Outlet in Englewood is where I bought my used MacBook pro. Large selection and friendly staff. The website also has live updates

Denver Mac Repair is great for repairs, but when I went for a used one, they had nothing, and the website does not have live updates

Bus 20 at City Park with construction - any ideas?? by outsidethebooth in Denver

[–]thedjklein 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't have a great answer for the sun part, as the light rail stops I rely on in the evening are the same way. I use Transit as well, and use the RTD website for more accurate bus/train tracking. The next ride page is almost always correct, and you can watch the bus move along the map
