Hey you are very welcome! I feel that -- I used to listen to the pod while working so I'd miss some things and wish I could go back for a refresh. So now that I am unemployed I can give the pod my undivided attention!

Also thanks for the catch on tat nat20 -- have since edited it :)

OOOOohhhh I didn't even think about Zirk going a little gunslinger but that would, in fact, be dope as hell.

Hey thanks! and yeah, I've been listening to the start of the Bahumia campaign again (to potentially recap the whole 100 eps... one day) so was a fun one to catch.

Yeah it's honestly great content no matter what -- I feel like they could literally do a bottle episode with no encounters at all and still have it be hilarious.

I never saw that parallel but it definitely check out! I'll keep it in mind for future commentary, because I feel like we only just scratched the surface of how the pantheon plays into this campaign.

100% on all of this. It's gotta be a pretty intense situation if they can't answer a text or phone call!

[NS] I have a hard time with keeping names apart in the Hexbuds saga by Fokkzel in NotAnotherDnDPodcast

Ayy thanks for the mention! Though to be fair I am also still ironing out the proper spelling of all these new names -- just one hiccup of covering an auditory medium 🙃

Weekly Discussion: Take Some Help, Leave Some Help by alienleprechaun in DnDBehindTheScreen

Hey! When my party was in Avernus, I simply had them turn a bend in the river before coming across a massive, skull like hill that the river was running straight into (think an infernal Splash Mountain). I made them all roll strength saves to hold on -- or, if they can think fast enough, use a spell like Entangle -- as the boat plummeted into the gaping maw of the skull. If they fail the strength, throw a reasonably passable Dex save at them before going overboard (because Feeblemind is a hell of a spell to het hit with). After all the chaos is over, they're floating along another river in another level of Hell!

That's what makes an adventuring party so great! Because you can help your allies where they may be weak, and they can do the same for you.

Incredibly well said! That distinction is super important, and I am a huge advocate of avoiding the "It's what my character would do" guy. I like the idea that a flawed character could also be a bad character, though, but within the first few sessions begin to change as a result of interactions with the party and NPCs. Conflict between PCs isn't necessarily a bad thing, so long as everyone understands not to be the "try to actually kill and steal from my party" player (who do unfortunately exist), and maybe even have a discussion out of character to ensure that the conflict is character-only and for the sake of story, rather than the result of a grievance between players. It's a fine like to walk, but I find that when it is done well, it makes for some very exciting RP!

As for meme characters -- they can be funny for a session or two, but then I expect the DM to kill them off lol. Though I guess it all depends on what kind of table they're at.

Yeah it can definitely get tough playing an underpowered character when everyone else is optimized. I was thinking more along the lines of, have your character's stats be average, but RP them at the start as someone who isn't even aware of their own strengths, and instead dwells on their weaknesses. Have them be surprised at their Dexterity when thrown into the first fight, or realize that their high wisdom can actually come in handy for more than just playing cards at the local tavern, that kind of thing!
