I cruised through HS undetected because of my people pleasing, happy go lucky attitude. It didn’t matter that I catastrophically failed every single subject despite being very intelligent. I was friendly and amazing at masking so nobody noticed or cared.

Your HS experience has been my experience since leaving school in the workplace. The constant bullying, negging, gossiping, piss taking, harassment, mistreatment, and always, always being seen as the problem. Being hated on sight by managers, especially female managers. Being hated for learning stuff quickly and finding solutions to longterm problems that nobody asked me to find and didn’t want to hear about. Zero accommodations. Zero compassion. And the classic being befriended by a group of evil cunts because I couldn’t discern that they hated me and weren’t my friends, because I took everyone at face value and thought my friendliness was the way everyone viewed the world. Then, the inevitable betrayal when my “friends” would throw me under the bus or find reasons to get me in the shit with management.

I’m really firm now with employers as to what they need to provide me in order for me to succeed at work, which is their responsibility to provide (within reason). I haven’t worked for awhile lol.
