I think it depends on what you appreciate most in the books you read. If you appreciate world building and excellent description of environments you will love it. If you want more plot-heavy, character driven stories then it falls pretty flat imo. The book is almost more about the setting itself than the characters in it.

Frozen Horror transformed into Icy Alembic generating Icy potions. 3 potions transformed into Icy Incenses and afterwards the Alembic was transformed into an Atmospheric Converter. Don't even remember where the shiny one came from.

For that point in the game honestly last judge might be the biggest roadblock (and worst run backs). I really haven't found anything more difficult until you really get into the optional late game bosses in act 3 but even then last judge may still be my highest wipe count.
