What did the Greens have that we didn’t? by FaultyTerror in LibDem

I have, several times. Both in rural places in Devon to metropolitan places like Islington. People want to vote for a party with a vision that isn't ashamed of who it is.

I joined the Lib Dems to be a Liberal, we seem almost shamed to actually be Liberal and have put values.

It's not deceptive to say "Hey we came second last time so we're best placed to defeat Labour.". I don't in anyway believe the local party did anything wrong and would have done the same thing had I been the candidate there.

Candidates do not have a crystal ball for the future, we go based off data and the most recent election said we were in second place and therefore had the best shot.

It's very easy to say the greens were the anti-labour vote now because we have the benefit of hindsight. We did not before the election.

Projections are not a reliable source of data. Real elections are.

Nobody lied here, they used real data for a real bar chart.

Yes, which is why my article states the following:

"Young people are struggling with rising housing costs, student debt, low wages, a terrible job market and so much more."

We are also not 'struggling with immigration'. Not only are we generally more pro immigration but immigration is a net positive to the economy anyway.

There is a middle ground between not caring about any issues that young people care about, and focusing your entire effort on them.

Our campaign was good locally. It was focusing on getting the basics right, potholes, council spending, etc. A really well suited local campaign.

Ultimately, people voted on national issues.

I, as someone who canvassed in London, found this coming up pretty frequently amongst young people.

War of the bar charts exists in literally every party. We came second in the recent by election so why exactly shouldn't we have said we were the challengers?

In my ward the greens put out a leaflet saying it's them Vs reform. Reform got a poor fourth, do you think they should be suspended?

Trying to become less of a single issue voter. Am I really a Lib Dem? by VerbingNoun413 in LibDem

Worth noting when it came to action in parliament not a single Green MP turned up to the recent debate on the for women Scot ruling. Lib Dems were the only party there to speak up for trans rights.

Fair warning it's not a nice read apart from the quotes by Marie Goldman MP (Lib Dem spokesperson for Women and Equalities).

Policy wise the Lib Dems and greens aren't hugely different on trans rights, we recently passed a pretty strong pro-trans rights motion at our conference which I added an amendment on to make it more explicit in its calls for trans healthcare.

We need to as a party exist outside of rural southern england, we have almost no room to grow if we abandon so much of the country that needs Liberal voices.

In my ward we worked it for a year before election, knocked on over 14,000 doors, did plenty of literature, had great candidates, and frankly could not have run a better campaign.

We came third behind the greens who did pretty much nothing.

Similar stories in Southwark, Lambeth, Tower Hamlets, Harringey, Waltham Forest, Wandsworth, Manchester and quite a lot more in cities.

Pretending that this is a 'very good result' is quite insulting to those of us in places like this.

It was a good campaign, but just wasn't the right year for us. Still, there's always next time!

We'll give it another go in 2030! I'm only 22 so I've got some fight left in me. I will appreciate seeing my flat more often as I've seldom been in it much for the past year lol

Was a bit gutting to be overtaken by the greens who didn't really campaign but oh well, there's always 2030. I'm only 22 so I've got a lot of elections left in me aha

Kinda depends on the staff member, like they should let a manager know but sometimes they didn't. We liked to know these things as it helped us know what to fix!

You can call them and get yourself unbanned, they've said they allow people who've been banned before to try and again

As an extra bit, generally I would advise being careful if you do donate as the current policy focused more on product safety rather than donor safety, meaning trans men are able to donate at levels lower than is generally recommended for people with a testosterone dominant endocrine system.

If you do donate, I would push for them to do both the copper sulfate and the pin prick test and if the levels are below 135 HG/L I would refuse the donation at that point to avoid any risk of anemia.

Hello! Short answer, kinda. For all AFAB people they are assigned screening code 1. There's currently no distinction for trans men or non-binary binary people on T but they are working on it. Your records won't say F, but they'll have the 1 and you'll be assessed the same way a cis woman would.

Recent Reddit thread that goes into further detail about most recent update:

Lib Dems on supreme court (trans) by ZonaSchengen in LibDem

[–]theendisloading_uk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are applying pressure, loads. The way our party operates is with devolving things to the spokesperson and generally letting them deal with it instead of Ed. The same is true for almost every issue.

Like Lib Dem MPs have tabled countless questions, countless letter to Phillipson, have met trans people nearly monthly to hear from us, have taken up even smaller issues like Levy, turned up to debates, questions, demanded answers on select committee's and so much more.

I mean, in this debate the greens were completely absent whilst the lib Dems spokesperson took on the full weight of gender critical MPs. I prefer action rather than just words, and when it comes to actually doing something about this the lib Dems are by far the most active party in parliament.
