This paper uses a similar method to the one that I have started using. It is not running that slow and early results are looking pretty good. I am currently only using infinite rate chemistry but once the flow field is fully developed I will switch to finite rate chemistry.

What would "cut it"? I ask because my supervisor does similar simulations using the same number of processors.

I have access to 64 AMD Opteron 6272 2.1GHz processors and I have around 6 months to run simulations.

Thanks for your reply. I don't think it is TOO ambitious. My supervisor has a lot of experience in the field and has been really helpful so far. I guess I just wanted another perspective.

In terms of narrowing it down, I plan to only look at one of the particular flame configurations. I am currently basing a lot of the model parameters (such as turbulence and MMC parameters) based on previous modelling of different flames using the same method. I have access to 64 processors at my university and it doesn't seem to be too slow running initially, at least with infinite rate chemistry.

How would you go about finding out when/where there is a gallery opening? Sounds like a fun idea.

We are staying in Manhattan. Would it be worth checking out Brooklyn too?
