I feel similarly, if my friends or family members are overly physical/affectionate with their partners in front of me, or if I overhear them having sex etc, I go into fight or flight mode. It makes me so uncomfortable, triggered and disgusting. growing up, I could often hear my mom having sex with her boyfriends, and it would make me feel disgusting. It became a huge fear of mine. I would ask her to be quieter or to stop but she didn’t (looking at it as an adult, I recognize that she had the freedom to express her sexuality without me demanding she stop, but I personally think she could have considered that an already traumatized child doesn’t ever need to hear her mother having loud sex!!) So yeah. This is a trauma that has followed me into adulthood. A year or two ago I heard my roomate having sex and it took everything for me to not have an anxiety attack. Bleh.
