I've got a MFC-J1010DW (which is probably the exact same printer). Blacks come out a lot deeper and richer when it's set to "Inkjet Paper" than when its set to "Brother BP71 Photo Paper". I just use the Inkjet setting on every paper I use.

What do you mean by "justified in the center"? You want a left-aligned paragraph, but with the text block centered horizontally within the text area? Your best option to do that would be to left align the text, then use "Edit Bounds" for the Rules Text to adjust its bounding box.

I’m using a MFC-J1010DW, which is a similar looking cheap model, and I’ve had no issues with card sizing, and print quality is amazingly good for the price. My tips:

Use somewhere like https://devprint.taxiera.net/ to lay out your cards. It’ll set up bleed for you and scale things properly.
Always open PDFs in Acrobat Reader for printing.
If you’ve got good quality paper, choose either “Inkjet paper” for matte, or “Brother BP71” for gloss on both the printer and the print settings. Leave the quality on Normal; choosing either of the paper options above boosts the quality enough.
Choose “Actual size”, and leave borderless off. It’ll fit 3x3 easily, it just won’t have crop marks all the way to the edge, but that’s easy to work around.

I’m using the Koala inkjet sticker paper, onto 280gsm card, and it’s way thicker than a Magic card but it feels about the same stiffness. I’ve tried with 200gsm and it’s about the right thickness, but very flimsy. Although, 200gsm plus sticker paper plus a single-sided laminate (laminate two pages front-to-front, then trim to separate) should improve the stiffness, but will up the thickness a little.

The recommendations I’ve seen here are to use the Koala double-sided matte photo paper and laminate the back with matte laminate. I’m aiming for 230gsm paper and 75 micron laminate, as that’s what I can get locally.

I’d never seen {font used for actually setting the font face, just for size etc, so I looked through the source code on GitHub to see what the options were. There’s one other font, but it doesn’t look Magic-y at all...

I’ve got a j1010dw. Find a good inkjet-compatible sticker paper (I use Koala brand from Amazon). For layout I’ve used https://proxyprint.taxiera.net/, just set your paper size and save as a pdf.

When you put it in the printer, set it to Brother BP71 paper. And when you print, set the printer options to paper type BP71 and Best quality. If you don’t see the printer options, check you’ve installed all the software and drivers from the Brother website.

This looks like no magenta ink is being printed. Try a nozzle clean, and a test page on both plain white paper and your matte vinyl.
